It's nice to read some good news for a change! Did anyone hear about this (the video is awesome, too!)?

Mother Tosses Baby From Burning Building
ASSOCIATED PRESS
NEW YORK (AP) -
1215dvs-baby-rescue A mother trapped in a burning third-floor apartment prayed and then dropped her 1-month-old son out a window to the crowd below. The infant was caught safely by a man who plays catcher for his employer's baseball team.
The rescuer gave the baby mouth-to-mouth resuscitation - a skill he picked up two decades ago as a teenage lifeguard - and the mother was rescued by firefighters. Both were treated at a hopsital and released.
Tracinda Foxe, 30, was cornered by smoke and flames in the Bronx apartment on Wednesday when she went to the window with son Eric Guzman.
"I said, 'God, please save my son,'" Foxe told the Daily News in Thursday editions. "I prayed that someone would catch him and save his life."
Felix Vazquez, 39, a Housing Authority supervisor, opened his arms and snared the baby.
"I didn't think," said Vazquez, a father of three. "I just reacted."
Moments later, firefighters D.J. Martin and Bobby Eustace burst into the burning apartment, found a hysterical Foxe and gave her an oxygen mask.
"Vaya con Dios, Castle. Go with God." "God's going to sit this one out." The Punisher (2004)

I have one small question ... if the mother escaped without having to exit via a 3rd floor window, then why couldn't she take her baby with her, rather than throwing it out of a window and hoping someone caught it.
This good news could so easily have been very bad news if the baby had not been caught

Obviously she had her doubts as to whether or not she would be saved. Apparently, the firemen burst into the apartment just in time, and she needed an oxygen mask to get out. Her baby might have been dead already had she not tossed him out of the window. Anyway, who wants to read these "Feel Good" stories? Nothing in the paper today about murder, rape, war, or terrorism?

I just heard a tidbit of this story, that "man catches baby thrown from window." I didn't know the whole story. Can you imagine??? Who can say what any of us would do in that situation? Having to decide if your baby has a better chance getting rescued inside the building, or having the courage to throw him out the window. I'd say that's some kind of miracle. What quick responses on the "hero's" part. So glad it turned out well. TIS
