Anyway, Meggie, if you're first leaving work at 8:00 you'll be lucky to see the tree at all (and that'll probably be from one of the side streets). But, if you go, enjoy it!! SC, I go every year, I work at Macy's so I just get on the train and I'm there in time. Although it was very crowded (and cold) but we always have fun. Then we gohang out in Tribecca. It's fun! I was sad to our fav spot, Pico's had closed. Maybe I can get you to hang out with us on New Year's Eve at Times Square (I never miss it)!

I spent New Years in NYC once, but in the Village, not anywhere near Times Square. And, the way the trains were jampacked DOWNTOWN after midnight (they were so crowded, my feet barely touched the floor!!), I really doubt I could put up with the Times Square crowd!!! It's become almost a yearly tradition where 4 couples, including my wife and I, go out to dinner at Sparks and then take a limo over to Rockafella Center. It's a great time. Don Cardi

I always wanted to see Time's Square on New Year's Ever, but it's too damn cold. Do they sell hot coffee or hot chocolate or something to warm your inners? And, how early do people actually get there? Just wondering. TIS

I thought it was Rock'a'fella. I used to work in midtown (42nd and 6th) and would occasionally take noon-timewalks up to the tree. The entire area is very festive. Lights on the trees and buildings. The store windows, St. Pats. But...a real tourist attraction. Every year for Christmas our family tradition is to go to a Broadway show and dinner. This year we are going to see "Fiddler on the Roof." How's that for a little Christian irony; a show about Jews, with the leads played by a gay (Harvey Firestein) and a lesbian (Rosie O'Donnell) who are husband and wife in the show. Good thing I'm a liberal Catholic (is there such a thing?) Oy Vay, Merry Christmas!

SC,,,you are so silly! I know how to spell it. Look at my original post (not the Subject...just spelled it that way for fun in honor of Jay-Z (?) Really, I was just poking fun. But us New Yorkers do pronounce it that way.
