This movie is due out in 2006 and was written by Tupac Shakur. Sounds pretty good actually.

A charismatic young man at the crossroads of manhood walks down the wrong path in life and is brought into the drug game by his mentor. He becomes one of the cities biggest Kingpins, but later decides to give it all up and redeem himself in life and love.

"After every dark night, there's a bright day right after that. No matter how hard it gets, stick your chest out, keep your head up, and handle it." -Tupac Shakur

Clichéd and nothing we've not seen before. It all comes down to the delivery, but as Tupac wrote it, I wouldn't be surprised if some director-for-hire picked it up and made into it a demographic-driven Hollywood film all about the ghettos and the dilemmas that come with that life.

Sounds pretty generic to me.

The mentor of this young man, I guess, is to be played by Pacino?

OH MY GOD!!!

Wouldn't it be a great movie if the young man was Andy Garcia and when he becomes one of the cities biggest Kingpins and later (Al Pacino ROLE COMES HERE) as a man in his early 60s or mid 60s he decides to give it all up and redeem himself in life and love...

WOW...

This sounds lame and boring.

And you liar, teller of tall tales: you trample all the Lord's commandments underfoot, you murder, steal, commit adultery, and afterward break into tears, beat your breast, take down your guitar and turn sin into a song. Shrewd devil, you know very well that God pardons singers no matter what they do, because he can simply die for a song.

No, I think that the young man is to be chosen from Keanu Reeves, Colin Farrell and McConaughey.

"Cliched and nothing we've not seen before" ..... Do I see a judgemental critic here that you once complained about? I know you have qualified the statement with "it comes down to delivery", but was the original statement not in the same spirit as those from the critics who wrote off a movie as boring? Atleast they watched the movie before pronouncing their judgement

SVSG, that isn't pumped full of cliches?

Well, when I say it's clichéd and nothing we've not seen before, I am of course judging the premise of the film. Just like I am judging Scorsese's decision to remake Infernal Affairs. From this I thought it would be made clearly enough in the subtext. Perhaps not. But at least I'm still up for watching these films, and hope in every sense to be proved wrong - I wouldn't want to be proved right, and thus waste the price of the ticket.

Thanks,
Mick

SVSG, that isn't pumped full of cliches?
I know it is full of cliches. If it has "redemption" anywhere in the tagline, it is all the more cliched . I was just joking with Capo. BTW, someone ( I can't remember who, maybe aristotle) concluded that all the stories can be classified into a few well-defined categories. Then how come we have so many plays and films? The answer lies in the presentation. Also stereotypes are what they are becasue of their popularity. How many "humans defeat aliens" and "war is bad" movies are truly unique?
