I know this is rude, and off-topic, but who saw that skit from CHAPPELLE SHOW where the Civil Rights pioneer played by Dave broke segregation by himself....from simply having to go to a "Whites Only" toilet because the "Colored" Toilet was broken? Hillarious stuff.

Honestly though, I thought she was already dead, so this is sort of surprising.

Saw the skit. It was funny but it wasn't Chapelle's best work.

Is there any truth to the rumor that her refusal to move on the bus was previously setup, not just a random act of defiance?

I feel like I heard at one point that it was suspected that she was paid/ordered to refuse because it looked better if an older woman did it rather then a young man.

Not that it takes away from her importance at all, Im just wondering.

What courage it must have taken for her to stay in that seat! After so many years of being treated as subhuman, for her to say no to the white man who wanted her seat, I would think that she was so frightened. RIP indeed.

"Rosa Parks didn't do nothing but sit her fat black ass down." - Cedric the Entertainer as "Eddie" in Barbershop

As Eddie explains in the movie, there were black people doing this all across the country, but she was a member of the Montgomery, Alabama NAACP. Irene Morgan was the first black to sit down on a bus and refuse to give up her seat. However, her case didn't have as much notoriety or effect as Park's would 10 years later.

She lived a long life. Ninety-two years is way up there.
All who pass this earth should rest in peace. No matter the hardships that they had on this earth.

Funny thing is that even during her last ride on this earth, she had to ride in the back. (Of the funeral coach that is)

Ironically it was not a stand that this lady took, but a seat that made her eternally famous. I'm happy that she did.

Truly R.I.P., Miss Parks.
