If you had to remake the godfather what actors would you use. Use basically the main charachter from part 1 only. And dont use actors that are in thier 50's. Like 18-40 age.
Michael-Collin Farrell
Sonny- Bratt Pitt
Tom-Matt Damon
Fredo- Charlie Sheen
Vito-Georger Clooney
Kay- Jennifer Aniston

I might be missing some actors but those are my choices.

Leave the gun and take the canoli.

That makes sense for most characters except Vito, who was older than your range given.

I mentioned Colin Farrell as a good Michael but got ripped on for saying that. I agree with Vito tho, Clooney is only a little bit older than Brad Pitt and wouldnt work as his father. Maybe Anthony Hopkins. Maybe too old tho.

I am really struggling to find someone else to play Michael and Vito (a good sign that the actor's performance could not be replicated), but here is the rest of my cast...

Tom Hagan---Dean Winters (Ryan OReilly on Oz)
Sonny---Micheal Imperioli (Chris on Sopranos)
Fredo---Danny Nucci or Lillo Brancato
Kay---Tea Leoni (I always thought Kay should have been someone better looking than Diane Keaton - no offense)

George Clooney is a horrible actor. He always has that f*cking smirk on his face, like he wants to bust out lauging in all his roles. George Clooney as Vito would single handedly ruin the legacy of The Godfather.

I think that a remake of the Godfather would only be dissapointing, I prefer the real thing.

Rudik, I think your cast is too "pretty". I agree with the Don's - no remake, but to fantasize a cast....well that's OK. I just can't think of any. The originals are too ingrained.

Maybe there's a part for you, MC, Thespian that you are wink .

Frank Vincent as Barzini
Vincent Pastore as Luca Brasi or Clemenza
Joe Pesci as Moe Green

Definitely Ed Norton as Fredo. He'd be a natural.

Ya know pl, I could see myself at Vito. I'm getting to be the right age and I'm starting to get those natural jowls AND, most importantly, I like to drink wine more than I used to!

pl, I see you as Sollozo. Ruthless, cutthroat, driven...like your Fantasy personality. wink

Oh yeah, I like Tom Sizemore for Clemenza. George Clooney could play Sonny.

I think I did this a few weeks back... no one really responded... hmph...

Clooney could work if he was in make up... you have to remember that Brando was Clooney's age when he was Vito...

Mast cast would look like this:

Vito: Brian Cox
Michael: F--- it - Leonardo DiCaprio
Sonny: Colin Farrell
Fredo: Steve Buscemi
Tom: Matt Damon
Kay: Reese Witherspoon
Connie: Selma Blair
Barzini: Ron Perlman
Luca Brasi - Vin Diesel
McClusky: Charlton Heston
Sollozzo: Chaz Palmentari

I can agree with this post. Any re-cast today would IMHO completely ruin the film, and it's legendary status.

IMHO no actors, or actresses today could ever do a proper job as the classic characters.

Sadly there is no Al Pacino, or Robert DeNiro, of today's younger actors.
