That's 149 movies I still want to see, and I am 16 years old. I'd say I watch around 30-40 movies every year, so it would take me until I'm about 20 to accomplish my goal.

It's not sick. I think it's an admirable goal!

Good luck man. You've got some good movies to see there.

And you liar, teller of tall tales: you trample all the Lord's commandments underfoot, you murder, steal, commit adultery, and afterward break into tears, beat your breast, take down your guitar and turn sin into a song. Shrewd devil, you know very well that God pardons singers no matter what they do, because he can simply die for a song.

2001 should be the first movie you see from that list. It's the most beautiful film ever made, and just mindblowingly good. By far Kubrick's best accomplishment. A way better Sci-Fi movie than any of the Star Wars films.

I would list them all, but I'm afraid there are too many I would miss/forget. Althougth the next five movie's I want to see go something like this:

Le Samourai
L.A. Confidential
Hard Eight (I can't find this anywheres!)
M
Brazil

"Somebody told me when the bomb hits, everybody in a two mile radius will be instantly sublimated, but if you lay face down on the ground for some time, avoiding the residual ripples of heat, you might survive, permanently fucked up and twisted like you're always underwater refracted. But if you do go gas, there's nothing you can do if the air that was once you is mingled and mashed with the kicked up molecules of the enemy's former body. Big-kid-tested, motherf--ker approved."

DVC, I've seen about all of the films you listed, sans maybe around 15, and boy are you in for some treats.

As for me, pretty much the rest of Godard, Resnais, and Mizoguchi's oeuvres are all that I'm really dying to see...though in about 5 minutes I could come up with some more titles, I bet.

I'm probably just whoring this film by now, but I can't recommend Le Samourai enough. It may very well be the greatest suspense film ever, although I will have to give it more thought to say that without doubt. It's being released by Criterion for $30 in October. Anyone who is a fan of Tarantino, Michael Mann, or even Scorsese should see it.

It inspired a lot of films as well. Michael Mann's Collateral is an example, as well as Jarmusch's Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai which I have yet to see. Luc Besson's Leon (The Professional) is another, which substitutes Costello's bird with a plant. Besson also wrote The Transporter, which takes some of the aspects of Jef Costello, primarily the strict code of professionalism.

The problem is, my local video store doesn't have shit. Neither does the Best Buy I go to. I may have to download most of these, or buy them from Amazon.

Finally!!!! I'm so excited. I didn't know if/when they were finally releasing it... It's about damn time, no? Thanks for the heads-up. Is that the cover they're going with? It looks nice, I like it.

It's actually a great movie. Of course it has flaws and isn't quite the masterpiece it sets out to be, but the pure ambition alone makes it worth watching. Plus, it is absolutely gorgeous.

DonVitoCorleone I recommend you to see The Seven Samurai first from your list...It's a masterpiece in every aspect!
I have alot of movies on my to-see-list too (On Thursday its Citizen Kane IN THEATERS! ) but I can't list them all at the moment...I have around 30 unseen Kurosawa DVD's in my room so there's alot of work to do
