LoL, don't feel bad, man... I think everyone does that with their first post. I know I did... Posted something that I thought I was the first one to notice, and would interest everyone, only to find out it had already been discussed a hundred times!! For me, if I remember correctly, it was Genco (young Vito's consigliere) being in the background at the Sonny/Carlo beating scene. You're going to be very impressed with the amount of GF-related knowledge some of these people have.
But anyways... As far as the "ghost image", I read a thing where Francis Ford Coppola was interviewed and asked about that, and he said he was never aware of it. I don't believe that for a minute. He must have noticed, and left it in just to mess with people.

That is real. Dude! I heard that it was actually the ghost of the kid who used to live in that apartment! My friend's cousin knows the guy who owns that building, and he said the kid ate pop rocks and soda, and his stomach exploded, and killed him!
