I used to smoke a little when I was younger (like 15 or 16), then came to the realization. "Hey, this killed my grandmother, it'll probably kill my sister, and my dad, what the hell am I doing?!" Smoking is stupid, pure and simple. There are no benefits to smoking any type of tobacco, and those who say it helps relieve stress are just weak. I don't look down on smokers as human beings, I just think they're making a stupid mistake. I fell victim to it when I was younger, not through peer pressure, but through peer influence. Never again. It's stupid.

Capone Sweets (Cognac-dipped) cigarillos are awesome -- I tried them last year when I was trying to quit cigs. They're $7 for a box of 10 at the bar, but cheaper online by the case. I still have some from a year ago - hope they're still good. I'm not proud of it, but, I've smoked on/off since I was rockin' and rollin' at 17, and no cig is better than a Camel. Way above Winston, and everything else. Marlboro's are just plain awful. :p I wish it was easier to quit cigs, cuz I'm really getting sick of it. I'm not much of a cigar person, but, those Capone Sweets are damn good!

I like Luck Strikes unfiltered (makes me feel like Bogart with his Chesterfields) and Capones.
I also enjoy big, fat cigars and sitting in a sun room while watching the Lucky Strikes run down to my finger.
I don't smoke like a smoker. For some reason (thank God) I don't seem to be addicted. I usually have some Lucky Strikes at a friends house a couple of times a week or some cigars, but always stop for a few weeks at a time to make sure I'm not addicted. Seems to be working. The lucky Strike unfiltered cigs are very intense and produce a lot of smoke. My favorite.

SC, big congrats to you! Several of my dad's family members have suffered the consequences of smoking, and he also smokes, unfortunately. He's tried to quit several times, and I've tried to help him quit several times, but it's very hard for him. I just pray that he can, someday, and if not, that he can keep healthy and safe for as long as possible. It's a terrible thing, and I hope more and more people can "see the light" and realize what a danger it is. To those of you who have mentioned you'd like to quit, I commend you for this, and I hope all of you can succeed in beating smoking.

It is my opinion that once a smoker truly realizes exactly what it is they are doing when they smoke a cigarette, it is in that pivotal moment that they realize how stupid it is, and they quit. As a person who used to smoke, I can sympathize with some of the reasons people smoke. But I don't believe that "addicted" smokers are so much "addicted smokers" as they are "habit smokers." My dad for example. When my dad drives to Salisbury (a town about thirty miles north of where I live), he has a cigarette at every stop light along the way (I live in a VERY rural area, so there's roughly one stop light every 10 miles). It's his "smoking routine", his habit.
I smoked for the first time when I was 13, and I smoked occasionally until I was 15, then I just started to smoke on a regular basis. Then one day, that "pivotal moment" occurred. I was smoking a cigarette, and it hit me, like a ton of bricks. "David, what the hell are you doing to yourself?" I threw that cigarette down, and haven't touched one since. I realized how incredibly stupid it is. There is no good excuse to smoke.
SC, I'm proud of you, and I'm proud of anyone who wants to quit. It's a truly great accomplishment, an accomplishment not easily reached.

Wow SC, that's such a great decision you made. My dad used to smoke for more than 30 years, then suddenly 16 years ago, he gave it up just like he'd never been smoking. He used to smoke 2 packs a day. A few years later, when one of his friends offered him cigarettes; he said that he'd quitted. His friend told him that he has not been a real smoker because a real smoker can never go on without cigarettes. He had told him, "Look buddy, I was inhaling the damn thing so deep that it was coming out of my car's exhaust pipe". Anyway, that made me so proud of him and I'm very happy for you that you quitted.
