SPOILERS

I didn't cry no but I was definitely upset but also excited. I'm excited that Snape has turned evil and that he & Malfoy are on the run. I wonder if Hogwarts is going to reopen? I wonder if Harry will die? If not, I wonder if he'll marry Ginny? I wonder if Ron and Hermione will hook up? I wonder how Harry will find the last 4 Horcruxes. SO MANY QUESTIONS TO BE ANSWERED!?

END OF SPOILERS

No More Potter DVD's?

According to the cool folks over at Hpana, Warner Bros. intends to pull all HARRY POTTER dvd's from stores as of February 9th, 2007. The first three in the series, THE SORCERER'S STONE, THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS and PRISONER OF AZKABAN, will be gone by December 29th, 2006 with GOBLET OF FIRE getting its ass booted by February. Warner Bros. is hoping to boost sales seeing as how there won't be a HARRY POTTER film released this holiday season (HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF PHOENIX will be released July 13th of next year). So, make sure to help Warner Bros. sell millions and millions more dvds before they lock those bad boys in their vault. It could be up to two years before they start releasing the films again. And maybe even up to four years before the special editions are released.

WHATEVER.

There are always "locks" on certain titles on DVD whenever new super-duper SE DVDs come along. Hell, Wal-Mart has been trying to get rid of their supplies of BLADE RUNNER, in time for that "Final Cut" DVD out next year.

As for "up to 4 years", that's fucking silly. Really, joblow.com of all websites should know better. Then again, its joblow. They know SHIT.

Here you go Irish... book your plane fare now. :p

Harry Potter ditches the glasses
...and all his clothes

By Jack Malvern, Arts Reporter

HE found fame wearing wizards’ gowns and schoolboy scarves, but Daniel Radcliffe has chosen to make his debut on the London stage wearing nothing at all.

The 17-year-old actor, who is now a multimillionaire thanks to the Harry Potter films, has been cast as the stable boy in Equus, Peter Shaffer’s controversial drama about a boy’s erotic relationship with horses.

Peter Thompson, a spokesman for the production, said that Radcliffe would appear in the play, scheduled for early 2007 in a West End theatre.

He will play Alan Strang, a psychologically disturbed youth who is interviewed by a psychiatrist after he blinds six horses with a metal spike.

The role requires the actor to simulate sexual pleasure while riding naked on his horse. It is a departure for Radcliffe, whose career has been dominated by his part as JK Rowling’s teenage wizard. He recently finished filming December Boys, in which he plays one of four orphans hoping to be adopted.

Richard Griffiths, who plays Harry Potter’s curmudgeonly uncle in the films, is in talks to take the psychiatrist role. It would be a triumphant return to the London stage for the actor, who won a Tony award for his lead role in The History Boys.

Last week, the pair were filming Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the fifth in the series.

Shaffer’s work caused a sensation when it was first staged at the National Theatre in 1973. It transferred to Broadway, where it starred Anthony Hopkins, and ran for 1,200 performances, making it one of the most successful plays in New York history. It was made into a Hollywood film starring Richard Burton in 1977.

The playwright, whose works include Amadeus and The Royal Hunt of the Sun, based the story on a real-life incident in which a boy inexplicably maimed six horses.

It encompasses sexual awakening, Greek mythology and religion. The psychiatrist attempts to explain the boy’s actions, but must confront his own demons in the process.

The play was the subject of controversy recently after John Owen, a drama teacher at Ysdgol Gyfun Rhydfelen in Pontypridd, was accused of sexual abuse after staging it as a school play. He committed suicide the day before he was due to appear in court.

A subsequent report by the National Assembly for Wales called for a ban on Equus in schools.

Radcliffe’s agent did not respond to inquiries last night.

NAKED THEATRICS

# The day after theatre censorship was dropped in 1968, the anti-war musical Hair gave modern audiences their first glimpse of nudity on a London stage

# Nicole Kidman was described as “pure theatrical Viagra” when she appeared naked in The Blue Room in 1998

# Kathleen Turner, Jerry Hall and Amanda Donohoe disrobed for The Graduate, but Glynis Barber refused

# Politicians threatened to cut the National Theatre’s grant in 1980 when it staged Howard Brenton’s The Romans in Britain, which featured nudity, foul language and simulated sex acts

# Thelma Holt, now a producer, was the first nude Lady Macbeth

Harry Potter Casting News

August 2, 2006 - Acclaimed actress Helena Bonham Carter, who recently portrayed the mother of Charlie in Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, has signed on for the fifth Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Warner Bros. Pictures confirmed today that Bonham Carter will portray Bellatrix Lestrange, cousin to Sirius Black and a follower of Lord Voldemort, also known as a Death Eater.

The extensive and impressive cast list includes Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Robbie Coltrane, Maggie Smith, David Thewlis, Fiona Shaw, Jason Isaacs, Richard Griffiths, David Bradley, Brendan Gleeson, Michael Gambon, Julie Walters, Ralph Fiennes, Robert Hardy and Mark Williams.

Bonham Carter joins fellow newcomers Imelda Staunton as Deloris Umbridge; Natalie Tena as Nymphadora Tonks; Kathryn Hunter as Mrs Figg; George Harris as Kingsley Shacklebolt; and Evanna Lynch as Luna Lovegood.

Nicholas Hooper has also been announced as composer of the score for Phoenix. The project reunites the composer with director David Yates, with whom he has had a longstanding partnership.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will be released by Warner Brothers in 2007.

We can discuss Harry Potter, sure. But bringing other's family members into this discussion (joking or not) is totally not cool!

i dont think i will have them finished for a while. thats why i try to gather info. from other ppl.

i think that just like the godfather movies the harry potter movies can truly be viewed as a seperate piece of 'art' from that of the book. at times the movies tend to 'write their own side of the story' if you will.

Well, I'm surprised none of you Pothead fans are pissy on this thread about the cutting of Quadditch in the 5th movie.
