His best role is Vito Corleone in "The Godfather" followed closely by Terry Malloy "On The Waterfront", 3rd "Apocalypse Now" and then "The Wild One"... Haven't seen Streetcar yet though (it's not released on DVD yet). Marlon Brando is one of the greatest of all time, the roles he touched became gold...
"It wasn't him, it was you Charlie..." "I could have class. I could've been a contender I could've been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, let's face it..." The way he says it is plain amazing. I put on the DVD often and just watch and imitate that scene...

What I meant, not released here in Germany But I read somewhere that there is going to be a Special Edition soon, so I'll just wait for that, hopefully THAT will be released here...

Easily his roles in Apocalypse Now and On The Waterfront blow his role as Vito Corleone out of the water.
Col. Walter Kurtz is the personification of instanity and Brando pulls it off marvelously. Just looks at his face. It's not just the war paint, it's those gestures, those movements. He understood Hitchcock's principal of "Pure Cinema".
Or for that matter look at his second collaboration with Elia Kaza, "On the Waterfront" and amazing film, expertley crafted and well made. Brando brings a truly amazing role of a man trying not to disturb the monotony of his life as a worker on the ew York Waterfront. That scene in the car with Brando and Rod Steiger. It's such a heaartwrenching scene that'll move you. You'll never forget Bernstein's score, either.

I forgot about this thread. --------------------- The Godfather is the best for me. However, not his best acting, which would go to On the Waterfront and Apocalypse Now.Brando may not have been in the film from the beginning but his scenes towards the end were gold. His delivered every line of his monologues perfectly. This is may favorite moment. -------------- I've seen horrors... horrors that you've seen. But you have no right to call me a murderer. You have a right to kill me. You have a right to do that... but you have no right to judge me. It's impossible for words to describe what is necessary to those who do not know what horror means. Horror. Horror has a face... and you must make a friend of horror. Horror and moral terror are your friends. If they are not then they are enemies to be feared. They are truly enemies. I remember when I was with Special Forces. Seems a thousand centuries ago. We went into a camp to inoculate the children. We left the camp after we had inoculated the children for Polio, and this old man came running after us and he was crying. He couldn't see. We went back there and they had come and hacked off every inoculated arm. There they were in a pile. A pile of little arms. And I remember... I... I... I cried. I wept like some grandmother. I wanted to tear my teeth out. I didn't know what I wanted to do. And I want to remember it. I never want to forget it. I never want to forget. And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that. The genius. The will to do that. Perfect, genuine, complete, crystalline, pure. And then I realized they were stronger than we. Because they could stand that these were not monsters. These were men... trained cadres. These men who fought with their hearts, who had families, who had children, who were filled with love... but they had the strength... the strength... to do that. If I had ten divisions of those men our troubles here would be over very quickly. You have to have men who are moral... and at the same time who are able to utilize their primordial instincts to kill without feeling... without passion... without judgment... without judgment. Because it's judgment that defeats us.

I would personally put Brando's performance in Streetcar just above his performance in The Godfather - although I prefer The Godfather overall as a film, of course.
"Stellllaaaahhhh!!!!!"
...there's people who would pay a lot of money for that information. But then your daughter would lose a father..instead of gaining a husband.
