As far as what they're doing. I suggest calling the hotel bar and page Waldo. My guess is they are close to dancing on the tables by now. However, they could be lurking the BB too. Yet, sounds like they won't be able to from the hotel anyway (unless from their room).

A very enjoyable, relaxing evening just ended for me (as I left a few hardened drinkers finishing up there "last calls").

I'm way too tired to get into details now (will add some tomorrow) but suffice it to say the first night was wonderful. Mignon and her daughter, Becky, the Don Cardi family, Geoff, Lori and I had an orgiastic feast of plenty at the deli (sooooooo much food) and were joined by AppleOnYa on the way back to the hotel for some alcohol, relaxing and getting to know each other.

This old fart can't drink like he used to..... whats worse is that I can't sleep like I used to either. So, while the younger set is still asleep in slumberland I add these comments and pics.

Its just approaching 6 A.M. as I start this, a scant three hours since we called the hotel to complain that their internet was down. They immediately dispatched an engineer only to have him discover that one of the connections came loose

Don Cardi did well in choosing this place (its accomodating and their service has been wonderful so far). Our one complaint has been the early "last call" for alcohol at 12:15 A.M. (their brochure lists it at 2 A.M.) Apparently they deemed it "not busy enough" to warrant keeping the bar open (although between us 8 boozers and a few other groups it was hard to see why). As we discussing the early call I glanced at my watch only to see it was 3 A.M. I looked over to Geoff and mentioned that it wasn't all that early until he realized my mistake (the big hand and the little hand on my watch got mixed up) and it was really 12:15. OK, OK, the place was dark and I'm not used to drinking anymore.

I gotta mention this.... Mignon is a sweetheart! She's every bit as down-to-earth as her posting style is. Her daughter, Becky, is every bit the same as mom and I'm betting she's a real heartbreaker back home. Kudos to both of them for sticking it out quite late last night after driving over 7 hours to get here. (I think Mignon is still in shock after seeing how much food was on our table at one time).

Sadly, AppleOnYa got to the restaurant late (just about when we were getting ready to leave) but she turned out to be a trooper and came back to the hotel for some dinner and a drink. Again, sadly, she had to leave somewhat early to do the mommy thing but there'll be other get-togethers!

Mrs. Cardi, a veritable wealth of movie info rivalling her hubby, succumbed to the need-to-sleep and returned somewhat early leaving a core group of boozers to hold down the fort. Lengthy conversations of past get-togethers had us in stitches (were your ears ringing, TIS?) until I decided the arms of Morpheus were calling me and I retired to make my baseball league picks.

Apparently Lori, backed up by Geoff and Don Cardi, had a few "conversations" with the management of the hotel (about the early closing of the bar) so we're waiting to see what "they'll do for us" to make up for it. (Lori lives for this kind of stuff).

Without further ado here are a few more pics. I apologize for the poor quality of them... the bar was dark (making it virtually impossible to use my viewfinder) and the alcohol was plentiful.

Adding insult to injury we just had a power failure here (as I was reviewing my last post - above). The lights, air conditioning and internet connection suddenly went out.... I thought I blew up the system. Running over to the door I saw the whole corridor was totally black. I woke up Lori and she decided that Geoff (3 rooms down) had to see this, too. Surprisingly he got up right away and his phone was working so the front desk told us the engineer was working on it.

OK..... back to the room to await the return of the power when Lori gets a brainstorm that we should go outside (we're on the first floor) and make like we're breaking into Geoff's room from the patio door. Only problem is we're not 100% certain which door is his. I get bamboozled into being the one who knocks while Lori is hiding behind some shrubbery just in case its the wrong door. Luckily we had the right door and called the manager (again) only to find out it was a public utility (i.e. an area-wide) problem.

Lights came back on in a few minutes but now we're wide awake and looking for some brews. I guess we'll settle for some breakfast.

Morning crew! What a great time we had last night.

As SC said, Mignon and her lovely daughter are really wonderful people.
It was a pleasure to finally meet Apple, who is really a very friendly person.

SC gave you his side of the story about why he thought the bar closed early. :p
I suspect that the real reason the bar closed early was because we drank it dry!

Don Malta was banging, uh, I mean, drinking cocktails two at a time.

I am really looking forward to partying with the rest of the gang when they arrive today.

Yesterday was fun! Wish I had gotten more sleep, though. (Lori knows why I only got 3 hrs' sleep -- cuz she's the one who woke me up at the crack of dawn!) And after breakfast and a stroll by the pool -- now she and SC are taking a nap!

Although I'm not surprised, I'm happy to see everyone having such a great time!
