The time has come for me to start considering what classes I will take during my Freshman year. I definely want to take some film classes, but I am not sure yet as to which I should take. To those who know, what are some of the better ones?

Where do you plan on going? I think that's so cool what you're going into. If I could have double majored or if I could just go back and get another degree I would absolutely LOVE to do filmmaking in New York

I'm a Film Major, it depends on your college, they're all different.

I have some writing and criticism classes. They're the best in my opinion. Do you want to do Filmmaking? If so, try some film production courses. Writing and screenwriting are best for that field. If you're just interested in film as an art form, try Film History or Film Theory.

Whatever you do, enjoy it. I personally feel film production courses are a waste, but thats because I've been making films for 7 years now and know about production. Writing and criticism are very good.

Good luck and let me know what you choose.

Shrewd devil, you know very well that God pardons singers no matter what they do, because he can simply die for a song.

if you plan on majoring in it let me make a suggestion. Take your gen ed courses your first 2 years and don't take any courses for your major (there are courses you need to take for your major but those usually fall into gen ed categories so take those) the reason I say it is because I took 300/400 level courses this semester and the people who did "half and half" meaning half gen ed half major said it was 8/9/10 semesters of "okay school" the ones who did 2 years of gen ed and 2 years of their major said the first 2 years were a continuation of high school but the last 2 have been great.

I'm definitely taking film classes for either directing or acting. I've gotten several film colleges sending me letters because of my occupation exam.

I will probably take film history and other cinema classes, but my forte is making amateur movies with my DVC. I would like to take classes to sharpen my skills, and if I really get into it, then maybe I will make it my career.

Yeah, same here. I am only a sophmore in high school but have been interested in film making for while. I plan to go to college in NY and major in film also.

You can't make great films unless you know your theory. I would (and plan to) do a film production course at Uni. You can teach yourself how to criticise a film by watching them and reading about them, but you can't make a great film without technical knowledge.
