I tried Ad-Aware, Spy Sweeper, and an online scanner. I still can't get rid of these fucking pop ups.

Spyware is evil! I wonder if there is any kind of program to purchase that completely gets rid of it. No matter what I do, it still stays on my system.

I use STOPzilla, which eliminates 99% of all pop-ups, and does a damn good job for getting rid of spyware/adware. But I also use Yahoo! Anti-Spy, which is available on the Yahoo! Toolbar, which is free for download if you use IE. STOPzilla is the absolute best pop-up blocker money can buy, and it keeps the spyware/adware downloaded on your computer to a very bear minimum. I highly recommend it. Here\'s the site.

The developers of both Ad-Aware and SpyBot Search & Destroy frequently update their software. Use the "search for updates" option available in both programs and download the updates. They install automatically and bring your protection up to date.

If it's been a while since you installed either program, you might be better served by starting over and downloading/installing the newest, latest version of both Ad-Aware and SpyBot S&D.

Both developers are aware of the fact that hackers are writing new SpyBot and AdBot scripts regularly. As these new scripts are identified, the developers issue the updates to remove and block those scripts. That's why you need to check for updates on-line regularly.

Check for updates weekly and run the programs weekly. Along with a good antivirus program, you should be safe from just about every malicious type of software.

It might seem inconvenient and unnecessary, but there was a time when people left their keys in the car and the front door at the house unlocked all the time...

StopZilla seems to be blocking them until I can find a way to destroy them.

Could it be related to not having Service Pack 2 on Windows?

If you could possibly just stop surfing porn... and stop with the illegal file sharing... you'd NEVER get anything like that. :p (or at least know where to go :p )

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

I knew I had to deal with your shitty jokes. Gets boring after the fourth one in a year or two Geoff.

I actually think I got it from tabcrawler.com since that's what I was on different from my regular sites that day.

DV,

Speaking of Service Pack II, I installed it a few months ago, and right after I had problems opening links. I could get to websited but was not able to open any links. Here on the BB, if someone supplied a link, I couldn't open it. I got tired of it, so I did a system restore to before I installed SP2 and it's been fine since. I keep up with all the updates and have a constant reminder that I have the SP2 to install yet, but I won't do it because it caused too many problems. I do get a lot of popups, but I'd rather have that then not be able to open any links.

The only odd thing about it is that everytime I exit IE, the error pop up comes up and I have to click "Don't Send."

I hear SP2 is a nightmare, so I won't install it. At least not as an upgrade. I'm sure a clean install (after formatting) would be fine. Well, "fine" in MicroShit terms, anyway.

Nor do I get any pop-ups whatsoever with SP1. TIS - just install Yahoo Toolbar and you won't get 99.9% of them again.
