For all this talk about the mob's heyday and how they don't earn like they used to, I'm surprised by Richard Martino's 21st Century internet porn scam where he single-handedly poured more money into Gambino coffers than any other wiseguy in history. To me it goes to show that there's still tons of money to be made out there if you have the right guys.

Gotta be the most advanced and successful scam this century at least. There is tons of money to be made through cyber scams no doubt but the mob historically relies on their muscle not their IT skills lol

Martino has also spent the best part of the last 15-20 years in prison and now fighting another case so it has taken it's toll. I'm sure there's some "legit" mobsters out there running successful businesses making millions who haven't sniffed a jail cell in years, those are the guys laughing. Take Tony Federici for example, obviously didn't rake in the money Martino did but no jail time and very wealthy

How much time did Richard Martino actually serve for that caper, do you have a time-line for his incarceration and release date? I don’t think he really got that much time.

So from what I get, he served 8 years from 2006-2014.

Yea I may have exaggerated somewhat but not sure if he had to do any parole/supervised release on top of that. And with his recent legal battle I thought that was still ongoing or had been ongoing for a while so he’s had a lot of legal interruptions these last years.

But there’s that famous wiretap from 1990 of gotti calling him an earner so he probably had a great fucking time in the 90s and early 2000s!

One of the sharpest guys in NY. Boss material, but I doubt he wants it

But you had to play it cool, had to do it your way
