He was forced to step down he wasn’t his father, as soon as they killed Grosso who was his protector.
He had no backing Salamee usurped him, he was told to step down or he would be killed.

He stepped down, was pinched, soon after he was pinched got nice bid, tried to take out Salamee from prison, his hit man was Hollaran, who Salamee had killed.

That was the last I read anything about him.
When he got out of prison he was irrelevant last I read he was irrelevant.

I think it was the East Boston faction that forced his eventual resignation so to speak. Vinny Ferrara and Joe Russo were the leaders. The rumor is he was brought to tears in the meeting where he was told to either step down or be taken out in another fashion. But I think that Salemme was his man in Boston. They whacked Billy Grasso in Connecticut and tried to whack Salemme at an IHOP in Saugus, MA on the same day. Salemme took off to California and bided his time. Then the recorded making ceremony took place as a means to appease the Eastie faction. After that, it was the indictments. Patriarca, Russo, Ferrara all went down amongst several others. Then Salemme came back and began is vengeance tour with many bodies dropping, including Hanrahan and a few other bookies and people close to Ferrara.
