Are there any younger guys joining the mob these days? Most recent mob photos I've seen they all look like grandparents for the most part.

Certainly younger associates that I'm aware of.

Yes they idolize rappers and ghetto bums.

I would venture a guess that the old timers that do have the benefit of young sycophants fawning over them and willing to do their bidding want to keep them as associates for as long as possible both to evaluate their utility and maturity as well as to keep as much of the pie for themselves for as long as they can.

This would be an economical matter - if you have 20 young guys around you all willing to do whatever you say, the competition within that group will keep them all keen. If you only have a couple of guys you're probably under more pressure to show them growth within the organization sooner.

But as some of the above posters have noted, getting quality candidates at all these days given the competition (both in illegitimate and legitimate life) has got to be the biggest problem.

These days a charismatic, alpha personality young Italian guy could get into real estate sales and go out and make $200,000 without risking RICO predicates and that's probably much more than he's going to make hanging around a social club, getting on the fed's radar and hoping you don't get shot. That's the biggest problem.

Yep its pathetic! The old guys are probably so fucking tired of the mob life as it is that they just don't give a fuck anymore.

Why waste the energy when you are going to be dead within the next few years? They are smart enough that its just the way it is now.

As long as they are getting $$$ Kicked back up to them they are enjoying their Golden Years down in Florida and just want to be left in peace. No need to get all stressed out about how a guy dresses or what rap artists he idolizes and fantasizes to be. The only way they say something is if this has an impact on how they are earning. Actually fantasizing about being a fucking hood rat probably makes them more hungry to commit crimes, beat up guys when necessary and act like a fuckin thug bringing in $$$$.
