Two of the most ruthless hitmen in organized crime history. One from New York and one from Chicago.

Who was more brutal and ruthless? Both were psychopaths so this one may be tough to choose.

There were tons of guys more deadly, more lethal, than these two. They were just two fellas highlighted in the newspapers so they get a rep.

List your choices. Would be interesting to hear who you choose.

Hard to do but I'll do my opinion for each city.

NY: Anastasia, Joe Waverly, and Anthony Casso

Chicago: I'd go Phil Alderiso, FiFi Buccieri, and then Mad Sam. I'd also think about subbing out Buccieri for Angelo LaPietra.

I'd have Tommy Karate and Frank Schweis on my "honorable mention."

Nobody is topping Demeo and his crew. They say over 200, but probably more like 75. I still can't wrap my head around that number. There's no way in Hell.

If you consider US only , maybe. But i would say Demeo crew. If u count in Italy too , they are not even close to being most brutal.

Greg Scarpa supposedly had over 60
Sonny Franzesse stopped counting at 50

What did Casso admit to 30

That’s a good list for one of the list guys to make

It is tough to compare one mafia member against another, or even to compare one killer from one OC category to one from another. The first problem is how many they killed, the stats are ridiculous, and come from gossip. Franzese never killed anywhere near as many as claimed, unless he was killing inmates in the prisons where he did spent so much of his life. I think the highest counts may have been in Chicago during the times leading up to The Saint Valentines Day Massacre.

Here are listed 54 murders snd DeMeo partecipated to 44. Franzese was in the life from the 1930s so it possible the number of 60 murders,Pitera was sentenced for 10 murders but only because his friend ratted on him and there was more bodies.

Lists are worthless, really. Posters on the internet love to make lists of all kinds, no proof is really needed, and any serious questioning is hated by the poster who puts up or makes the list. Sayings such as "Others here will back me up!!!!" or "WE verified it" are plain silly,.

Good point and agreed 100%

I have had a couple very close friends who were highly connected that never made an FBI chart. Not one of them, and these guys worked for the mob for their entire life in certain crews and did hard time in Leavenworth. One was in solitary for an entire year because he beat the fuck out of a guy in the kitchen and dumped his head in a pot of boiling water almost killing him. Everyone knows who the fuck they are that is in the inner circle of organized crime. Both have passed away unfortunately from prostate cancer a few years ago and I miss them dearly.

FBI Lists are very misleading.

Not only are FBI list misleading, often way off, but the ones people make up on forums or on their websites are usually worse.

I think DeMeo said his body count was 75 hits, that doesn't mean that's the whole crews total

People forget that Willie potatoes Daddano was Mooney Giancana’s personal executioner. He did lot and lots of hits. I guarantee you you’d have a hard time finding someone as dangerous as Larry Neumann. Tommy Pitera was very dangerous also.

Daddono was a balssy guy, meaning he had the balls to go against anyone but I personally believe that there were more ruthless guys than him who did a lot more hits. Guys like the "Three Doms", Buccieri, Nicoletti and Alderisio, Patrick and Yaras etc., but on the other hand (as I already stated) those guys never lifted a finger against their boss while Daddono went into a conflict with Giancana regarding the garbage business and they almost went to war. Thats why you can find some old Chi Tribune articles from those days which stated that Daddono mightve been the next boss lol
