Turnbull, you see the Herzog version of Nosferatu? I bought the Herzog/Kinski boxset te other week (that is, I had it bought for me), but can't watch it until Christmas... Many people have sixteen films on their list. Since when have The Godfather and its first sequel been classed as one film? In this sense, Turnbull cheated, and posted seventeen films! :p Mine: 1. Le Samouraï (1967) (Melville) 2. Taxi Driver (1976) (Scorsese) 3. The French Connection (1971) (Friedkin) 4. Blue Velvet (1986) (Lynch) 5. The Godfather Part II (1974) (Coppola) 6. A bout de souffle (1960) (Godard) 7. The Conversation (1974) (Coppola) 8. The Godfather (1972) (Coppola) 9. Don't Look Now (1973) (Roeg) 10. Fargo (1996) (Coen) 11. Mean Streets (1973) (Scorsese) 12. The Deer Hunter (1978) (Cimino) 13. Gladiator (2000) (Scott) 14. The Seventh Seal (1957) (Bergman) 15. Manhattan (1979) (Allen) Mick

Mick [/b][/quote]well I ranked it there exactly to see if someone would be interested in it (not the first time I do that, but the first it works) not that it shouldn't be there, but when I thought about which movie would be #15, that was the tie-breaker please let me know what you think about it. I'm sure you won't be bothered by the unamerican feeling it has.

WOW, what a difficult question!!!!! Anyway, this is my current list (it changes depending on my mood) in no particular order (but I tried to pick all genres). The Godfather 1 & 2 Schindler's list A streetcar named Desire Roman holiday Sabrina Gilda My fair lady A place in the sun Gone with the wind Sunset Bvd. Casablanca Psycho Il gattopardo (aka, The Leopard. I strongly suggest to watch it, especially italians and sicilians here who didn't) Morte a Venezia (aka Death in Venice. WATCH IT!!!) The Shawshank Redemption The remains of the day Shadowlands _________ Are they more than 15??????
I don't want realism. I want magic! Yes, yes, magic. I try to give that to people. I do misrepresent things. I don't tell the truth. I tell what ought to be truth (Blanche/A streetcar named desire)
