When Angelo Lapietra went to jail in 1986, I assume that his brother Jimmy took over as acting capo of Chinatown crew.

When Jimmy died in 1993 and Angelo was still locked up until 1997 who was acting capo? Johnny Apes? Did LaPietra then resume his spot once he was released from jail?

Nick Calabrese confirmed Monteleone as the boss of the crew but not until after the Lapietra brothers died.

So who was the boss of Chinatown/26th street between 1993 and Angelos death in March of 1999? I have to believe it was Johnny Apes. However I have seen some suggest Shorty Lamantia was running things for a while.

What was that book's title,...Family Secrets ??

It was one of the most boring books I've ever read...

Outside The Last Mafioso by Fratianno...Only NY books are worth reading

No one mentioned Frank Jr. or that book not sure why you are bringing it up.

The Johnny Apes timeline (When he became Crew boss and then Outfit acting, etc) is very confusing....some say he became the acting boss when DiFronzo (1993 until 1994 reversal) and Carliisi (1993 until 1994 reversal and then March 1996 until his death) were in jail. LaPietra (dies in 1999) was still around then (albeit in jail himself from 1986 until 98? early 99).

Is the belief that during this time Johnny Apes became acting boss once all the bigwigs went to jail? Does this imply that he was already acting as Chinatown crew chief once LaPietra was jailed and his brother had passed?

So 1993 when Jimmy LaPietra dies Angelo makes Johnny Apes acting Chinatown boss
Also in 1993 when DiFronzo and Carlisi go to jail do they make Johnny Apes acting Outfit street boss until Carlisi and DiFronzo get out.
Once DiFronzo is out and Carlisi dies DiFronzo splits the Outfit into two groups leaving Johnny Apes boss of everything but Elmwood Park, who Difronzo benches?
DiFronzo then seperates himself from mostly all illegal business

Is this the current belief?

you're 1000% correct. Both are sorry ass excuses for a weak spine! To be perfectly honest with you, I've gotten so tired of hearing all these lame excuses for becoming a rat. Either you stand up like a man in life and take your medicine, or you don't... at the end of the day, all the rest of it is just window dressing to make themselves try and look better in the eyes of people, and all the other idiots out there in La-La Land.

As I've said over and over, time and time again, "A Rat is a Rat is a Rat is a Rat.. who years back woulda got a Rat-A-Tat-Tat!

Frank Jr And Mikey Franzese would make you bow down in their presence. You take your orders from an overweight Karen from the Midwest bro. You
Ain't fooling nobody. You would rat on your mom if you faced doing 30 days in county.

Acting
1986-1993 Jimmy
1993 onward was Lamantia
Those were Angelo LaPietra picks. The administration wanted Monteleone as acting capo, but they did not want to go against Angelo's pick for his crew. When Carlisi and DiFronzo went away, they made John Monteleone acting boss for the Outfit. When Angelo LaPietra died, Monteleone became official capo of the crew. Think of each crew as separate families. Hope that helps.
