But since The cali death, the Recent arrests in the Lucesse and Genovese, and the release of Bonanno and Colombo leaders , which family you think had their shit together and is the strongest at this point ?

This question has been posed a lot so I'll be blunt and to the point with my opinion:

All the way back to Luciano, it's always been the Genovese, always has been and probably always will.

There may have been a few years in the late '60s, early '70s where it was Carlo on top. But that would have been the only exception. Outside of - perhaps - that brief period, Genovese all the way.

The other families may generate more headlines from time to time - but that's exactly the point. The average New Yorker has no idea what Barney looks like and you never hear about them despite being the largest family. They're doing their business quietly, the way it was meant to be done.

Genovese reign supreme; Gambinos are a solid second place. The Lukes punch above their weight for their size.

The other two borgatas are a joke outside of Staten Island where they're not much better than street gangs these days.

I agree ... the Genovese is really solid . Barney definitely has a tight ship, they say Barney is real old school like an old school boss the Gambinos with all the old school Sicilian guys and more of them coming over have their shit together .along with real guys like the corazzos .The lucesse are not to be played with , they too have major things going on, all three are in good shape , I feel the Columbos are putting it together but the bannano are still a mess ,they don’t have much going on ,only a handful of good guys , the rest were better off being in a gang just , I hear some of their guys are dead broke can’t even find jobs and others trying their hand in acting and making movies .

Genovese always seem to be mentioned as being on top. They don't make just anybody (people have to prove themselves) and have a lot of experienced members.
Gambinos are doing well. As mentioned before they still have strong ties to Sicily, which helps.
Lucchese have some serious guys, as small as the family as a whole is.
Colombo are ran like a blood family, which is probably what keeps them alive. They still have ties to resourceful people.
Bonanno...yeah...everything I read about them these days also leads me to believe that they're a joke. Most probably they still have a few serious guys, but there are also a lot of members that are stuck in oxycontin traffic-like rackets. And even in that regard, a few of them are making less money than some white trash trailer park oxy dealers are making in the Appalchians or the Ozarks.

All five families today. ALL five, are in serious, serious, trouble. There is NOBODY left worth making. and 99% of the guys that do get made DO NOT deserve it.

But there's nobody else left to choose from. Do you REALLY think the older hierarchies of these crews want these idiots around them??

Or course not! No self-respecting wiseguy (who's REALLY wise) wants to have anything to do with these mutts, idiots, and straight out potential stool pigeons. But as I just said, the pickings are slim. So they take what they can get....which is shit most of the time.

And don't kid yourself, the Genovese Family is in the same boat. They've benefited from a smarter hierarchy up top for years. But they still can only pick the 'new' recruits from the talent pool thats left.

Problem is also the fresh blood that gets exposure. I mean guys like Tuccio...whether he's going to keep his mouth shut or not...he's obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed and he's not going to be a big time money maker. It's not a good look if that's the kind of material the Mob has to work with nowadays.

Many young associates are most probably also guys like Gene Borrello: a typical trashy loser who's gonna end up a broke deadbeat that beats on his girlfriend by the time he turns 35. Guys like that are complete failures, whether they're "civilians" or "gangsters".

Maybe there are still young guys out there to do have it in them to become serious wiseguys, but no doubt the recruitment pool is diminishing. I'd say the Genovese and the Gambino's are still as strong a criminal organization as a criminal organization these days can get in Western society - but who knows what the future brings...

You guys are basically right about everything, LCN is a shit show. That's why I'm more interested in Italy these days, you still get the same action we used to get over here. In many cases much more.

That’s right all the columbos are mostly related one way or another which is a good thing , kind like the Calabrian clans, and the Gambinos are as well.. the bonnanos yeah they are done I mean what good guys are there ? How many made guys + associates would you fellas say each LCN Family has nowadays?

At this point, they should consider making guys who are even just a quarter Italian. Not even trolling or anything.

I think they do already ... there are guys who are Spanish and Irish , some just have an Italian last name but are not even Italian ...

There's a few crews worth mentioning. Anthony Calabrese (Bonanno) has a lot of guys under him supposedly. Other interesting players are Louis Filippelli and Joseph Lanni. Vincent Esposito and Sal Larca from the West Side. Joe Amato had a very impressive crew.

Is Anthony calabrse related to Peter calabrese? Wasn’t peter a major figure ? Is he home yet?
