Hi all, I was just wondering what you think is the best scene of Robert de Niro playing Young Vito Corleone?
At the moment I just can't choose just one actually, alltought the the whole scene of the young Corleones on Sicily is for me the first to come in mind. The whole Sicilian atmosphere gives it just that little extra I think.

Well, it's a "little moment". In G2, when the family is so poor, and Vito brings home a piece a fruit, and his wife exclaims how nice it is, and Vito leans over the dining room table to give her a kiss. It's a moment full of poignance and gives us a glimpse into their relationship.
What have I done that you would treat me so disrepectfully?

I know we've discussed this many times before, but I never tire of this topic. DeNiro plays the role so perfectly, it's hard to pick only one scene. Made Woman, I agree with the Pear scene. I loved his expression while taking off his coat waiting for his wife to see the pear. Seemed so simple, yet so sweet. Yes, the carpet scene and Sgr. Roberto, wonderful as well. His demeanor, soft spokeness, calmness and sense of reason made him so likeable. Let's not forget too, the scene on the porch steps right after he kills Funnucci, telling Michael how much he loves him, showing a believeable warmth, which you might not expect from a future crime boss I guess. Originally posted by Turnbull: Both his scenes with Sr. Roberto--on the street and in his office--are triumphs of understated menace. Plus, Sr. Roberto makes for a very comic actor. I agree with you there Turnbull, those scenes are great. The way Vito reacts when Signor Roberto wants to lower the rent with $5,- is also great, just playing a little game with the poor landlord. I also like the deleted scene after Sr. Roberto has left the Genco Olive Oil comp. office when Hyman Roth is introduced. Too bad they kept that scene out. Hmm like I said, hard to choose just one...
