Does anyone know where Greg Scarpa was during the 1st Colombo War? Was he invloved? Was he a major player or did he have a minor role. I never hear too much about him back then other than the fbi work he did in Mississippi

Larry's Bar
He followed Charlie order of not getting involved. He was approached by Carmine Persico to join the Gallo faction but declined. Charlie then tried to broker a peace agreement between the two factions, but was turned down by Joe Gallo, after that Charlie would only meet with Joe if Larry was there too. By summer of 1962, Charlie became Consiglieri and Scarpa took over that crew. He was feeding the FBI information.

Yeah,it's amazing that Scarpa was able to work with FBI for so long and had never been found out.As far as the Mississippi thing it is believeable. The story for many years down here was a wife of a Klan had told the FBI who they need to put pressure on.But then this story comes out that this particular Klan member had owned a tv store. That Scarpa went there to buy a TV and this Klansman went to his car to help him load it and Scarpa put a gun on him and forced him in the car.The Fbi alone could not break the silence of the Mississippi Klan. They were very secretive and loyal to this cause. When the Feds sent troops down to intregate Ole Miss the Mississppi klan fired on the Feds there. You would have had to separate this one Klan member who was considered a wink link. Then torture him the way a Greg Scarpa would have to get this info.I find this story plausible

Charlie as in Charles Panarella? Or someone different?

Calogero LoCicero. He served for a short time as the Profaci family consiglieri. Killed in in 1968, I say by his son Frank since Charlie ordered his grandson Richard killed, son of Frank.

Theres a great book deal with the devil by a real journalist. He goes threw all scarpas 302 and gets interviews with family affected by his crazy shit. No wonder scarpa was nuts his mentor this guy charlie locicero had his own grand kid or was it 21 yr old nephew killed over a robbery . Sick shit. Then his own kid murder him. Then the whole family continued to be member of the colombo family when the books opend in the 70tys. That book will answer almost all you scarpa questions. Some say its boring i thought it was fascinating. Guy was sent on cia missions nuts. Then died a broken old man with hiv after his world crumbled on him.

His files are some of the best shit out there period. I'm not sure how much is b.s. of course as I know nothing about the Colombo's, but even I was interested in it and I don't care to know anything about them.
