Just a thought, but with gas prices skyrocketing, especially here in CA, won't that affect the price of an airticket??? If so, it seems more likely fares will go up as opposed to going down???? Point being, is it better to purchase now or later???

Just an Update regarding Airfares to Chicago. Been checking from time to time and today I found that some airfares have dropped in price a significant amount. Now may be a good time to reserve a fare. How many are really still planning to attend the Con? Has anyone booked thier airfare yet?

I have been checking as well and so far, it's been pretty much around 215-230 r/t. I'm guessing that'll probably be as low as it goes. I haven't booked yet but am thinking about doing so soon. Just don't want everyone else to back out and leave me there. ha ha!! That's ok tho, I'd have fun. I'd just hang out with all the gangsters and maybe come back the first female Don, who knows??

I'm still planning on attending. I've already got those days in September off. Although I haven't booked my airfare, as I'll be driving to Chicago, I don't live that far away from Chicago.

I hear (from someone who books a lot of airline tickets) that about a month before is the usually the best fares... not too soon, and not too late...

Also, just a reminder for those planning to go, remember to purchase your tickets for this convention. Checking the link, it seems you have to mail in for them. If you buy them when you get there I think they're $10 more. So allow time to receive them.

Yes Don Geoff, this usually is true. I figure come June / July the fares may drop even more. I know that many are worried about the rising costs of Gasoline, which may just play a big factor in keeping the airfares high, but in truth if the airfares stay too high for too long, the airlines will begin to hurt and may drop fares just to draw back people to fly. It's a gamble and depends on many factors. Let's all keep each other posted.

I also know John Fiore from Law & Order which I watch all the time. Now if only they'd get Pacino/DeNiro and Gandolfini..that'd be the icing on the cake wouldn't it???

I plan to send for my ticket this week. FYI, they are $10 dollars less if they are pre-purchased ($30 for advance, $40 after June 30th), so might as well.

I've not yet gotten my flight, but don't anticipate a problem. I keep getting "Spring Sales" from some of the travel links I've used, but travel must be completed by August or so. I think I should soon be seeing some summer fares.

As the time approaches I look forward to seeing some of my now, "old" friends from NYC, and meet some of my new friends that I chat with here on the BB!!!! See ya there!!

I noticed that they've added the Gangsters, Ghosts and Chicago Mysteries Tour . It's an additional $40 and held on Saturday 7pm-12am. This includes the Massacre site and 5 hours worth of other goodies. Must register in advance, so are we going to that, too?

I was worried because we were hoping to see the Cubs play, but that weekend is a rare series of day games:

Cubs (vs Marlins)
Fri 9/10 - 2:20PM
Sat 9/11 - 1:20PM
Sun 9/12 - 1:20PM

So - who's in for the tour and/or Cubs?

That sounds fun to me Geoff!! Being the "sports nut" that I am , if it was a choice, no doubt, I'd pick the tour. Do I understand then that it conflicts with the game??? If so, I guess we need a quick vote on who wants what. I guess if some go to the game and some the tour, that'll work as well. The ad did say tickets were limited, so I'm guessing we should decide quickly no????

No, the game is at 1:20 (about 3 hours), and the tour is at 7pm. Plenty of time.

Kind of weird that the tour would be at night, though...

And for what it's worth, and as much as I'd love to see Wrigley, I'd definitely pick the tour over the game as well.

FYI,

I e-mailed the Mobwear link to ask a question about purchasing tickets, and Harry Lawrence replied with this. I forgot to mention to him that I was interested in a 3 day ticket and he quoted me for one day.

At any rate, I don't recall seeing that $3.85 figure in the ticket section of the link. So keep in mind when you purchase your ticket. Makes me also wonder if there is a charge for the ticket if we purchase the tour???? Also Mr. Lawrence gives me another address than the ticket link on the website gives.

That tour sounds kind of cheesy, but thats never stopped me before I saw a picture of the current scene of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, and its nothing more than an empty lot. Still, it might be fun if we smuggle a bottle aboard the bus.

Still on our list. It is a whole summer away.

Just booked Houston and Atlanta a couple a weeks ago so.

Now, I have to factor in MR Cheesy and his tour!

Well, the address he just gave you is the same one as on the tour's reservation form. The other address is the one on the entry ticket form.

The whole convention sounds kinda cheesy in general, so why shouldn't the tour? My only concern is that it's at night - how can you see anything, let alone take pictures??

Update:

I heard from Mr. Lawrence again, and he tells me that if I am purchasing the $30 ticket that there are no shipping charges, but there is if you purchase for one day.

He also told me that I could purchase both the admission ticket and Ghost Tour tickets at the same time thru him. He said that this tour is very limited with only 65 seats, so if interested they should be purchased soon.

Like I said, I'll do whatever everyone else wants to do. Geoff, maybe it is cheesy, I don't know. If this whole thing does turn out to be not as good as expected, I figure we can always find something else to do in Chicago right?? What does everyone else who is seriously considering this think????
