WOW. talk about the long arm of the law. Geoff pulls this one up and puts it right on the table. Good Work Geoff.

I see all the pieces fit and he wasn't bulling us with using real facts.

Now if you could just clean up some of the other people with two or three accounts posting under a few names.

Question, what made Charlie come here as he is so busy doing so much?

BTW, what is a "Lord" anyway. How do you get to be one? What are the qualifications? responsibilities? Where are they in the hierarchy of English royalty (assuming they are royal). A Duke has a Duchess, what does a Lord have, a Lordess (or is it Lady?) You've piqued my curiousity.

You've got basically 2 types of Lord (the female equivalent is a lady). Those who inherit the title from their father, grandfather and so on (hereditary piers), and those who get given the title by the government for whatever reason - often thy're former politicians.

"Lord" is ofen used as an umbrella term for people who have other particular title, eg Earls, dukes, viscounts etc.

I dont really know the pecking order of all the titles we have, most people in England (especially the under 50s)have very little interest in the aristocracy unless they're part of it. We mostly just accept it though because we wouldn't be England without it I suppose.

People with titles aren't necessarily related to the Queen, although they quite often are. I was also reading something today that President Bush and that Kelly geezer are both distantly related to the queen - there's a theory that whoever is the most closely related to royalty will win the Presidential election. Apparently last time Bush was more closely related to royalty that Gore, but this time round Kelly is more closely related apparently. Hmmmmm......

...there's people who would pay a lot of money for that information. But then your daughter would lose a father..instead of gaining a husband.

Well, you are a "convicted" Earl at that, so over here we call them convicts. Oh, by the way, this is America and over here you are just another poster. So, if you post crap people will call you on it. Sooooo Charlie Boy unless you have something good to talk about, that is other then your title and your conviction, which I think we have all had enough of them.....welcome to the gangster BB.

I for one will be happy to chat with you old boy, just let me call down to staff to get something to eat and have my driver ready the car so I may pick up my lady for drinks during social hour at the club this afternoon. I'll be right back.

I think hereditary peerage was abolished in the late 90's but I respectfully think you're wrong about us accepting it because we wouldn't be British otherwise. The British people have become complacement and comfortable. We lack heart. And have more worrying matters to attend to, immigration, incredible rises in house prices that the latest figures today show first time buyers can not afford to get on the property ladder in 80% of towns, and last but not least soaring crime in all areas of the country which may result in our prison capacity potential filled within one week.

But just because we do have these other problems doesn't mean we shouldn't get rid of the medievil concept of the Nobility and Monarchy. The US got it right and now they celebrate 4th of July to commemorate it. I only wish I had the same reason to celebrate.

A disgrace to what? Because I love my country and that a title should be earned and not given through hereditary. Again, what contribution have you ever made to this country?

BTW - The political designation of Brooklyn is its a county. The county's name is "Kings" (named after the titular head of the royal family). A loooong time ago (back in 1776) we fought for the right to oppose those "titles" bestowed on individuals.

Double J, at least he is able to understand his jokes are bad. You actually laugh at your own terrible jokes, while everyone else is groaning and moaning in pain wondering how much sooner death can come and take them away so they never ever have to listen to a Double J joke again.

Turi, I agree with you that the whole system is archaic and I'm not saying I agree with it. I think most people accept it, but I'm not saying that we're right to do so. As you say, there are more important issues such as asylum seekers and rising house prices, crime and so on. I'd rather see my taxes going towards them than shaking up the system. Again, not saying that's right but its just the way I see things. smile

All on Board,
It's not snobbery its called royality we are not used to people giving us foul mouth I am sorry if you took any offence but let me say that this is no lie beside it doesn't matter who we are what matters is that we are friends on this board I hope and we should not let our classes ever come between that because life is worth anything if you have no friends and i am willing to still talk to anyone of you even though most of you on this board insulted me but we should put the past behind us and move on to the future of our friendship if all of you are willing to accept the friendship on offer

Yours Faithfully
Lord Charles Brocket
