I'm on a high-fat diet.

Normal day I eat,

Eggs
Butter
Bacon
Avocados
Dark chocolate
Swiss cheese
Almond butter
1 pound potatoes
1 piece of fruit
1 pound veggies
Chicken or fish for dinner.

Been doing this for over a year now. I recommend it.

Besides the butter and bacon it looks like your intake is all good fats. What is your reasoning and if you have any have you met your goals

At first it looked like the South Beach or Dr. Atkins except for the 1 lb of potatoes. Interesting diet.

I dont care what dr atkins says, bad fats are killers; heart disease and cancer. Lots of thin people get cancer and alot can be attributed to diet.
The best way to diet is higher protein, moderate ( good carbs), and low fat.
Thats also the hardest diet to follow and since many have no discipline and are lazy, they latch on to these easy to do fad diets.

I had 5 egg whites and a slice of whole 12 grain toast for breakfast.
I also sometimes have high fiber cerial.

I will have a protein shake at 11 and 1:00 i will have grilled chicked breast with red italian gravy from Sunday and a sweet potato.

Dinner i will have white meat or fish with green vegitables.
Later i will have a slice 12 grain toast with almond butter/ peanute butter,

I hit the weights 4 times a week and the treadmill 5 days a week.

I do have cheat meals like pizza on friday and macoroni on sunday with french bread from the ginny bakery by me. Lol

Solid Diet, how about fruit. Do you eat any?

I eat a apple or orange daily, either in the morning or afternoon with my lunch.

I've been eating high fat going on five years now.

Usually about three to four whole eggs per day.

Had a health scare years ago while eating too much sugar, carbs and the supposedly "healthy" whole grains.

Discovered Paleo diet and starting feeling way better. I no longer eat a strict paleo diet as I found it unnecessarily restrictive.
I just try to eat nutrient dense foods and stay away from food that don't have much nutritional value.

Everybody has a different metabolism, family health history, etc.

Some people are more susceptible to develop heart problems or diabetes than others, even if they have the same lifestyle, diet, and activity level.

Still have to ask you guys that do the high fat diet whether you exercise regularly.

I exercise regularly.

My blood work has actually improved on high fat. Very low LDL cholesterol and good HDL number. Very low triglycerides.

Not convinced that fat causes heart disease. I learned a lot from reading the work of Dr. Chris Masterjohn.

Low fat, high protein, fruits and vegetables it the way to go.

I eat meat but tend to eat a vegetarian for the most part, not for any ethical reasons just because of personal reasons. Quinoa, beans (all kinds), brown rice, teff and kamut are big in my diet for protein.

I go for fish, turkey and any wild game I get.

thanks,

Been lifting and running since I was 19 off and on.

I don't follow a diet. I just avoid certain foods* outright and 95% of what I drink is water.

*Foods with little or no nutritional value.

Atkins did not have health issues because of his fat intake, his issues were caused by being fanatical about low carb ketogenic state.

He was so low carb, he had thyroid issues, and was sick because he was Vitamin C deficient.

He was about 70% fat, 10% carbs, 20% protein.

It sounds like "Too much fat" but it's not enough carbs.

I do 50% fat, 35% carbs, 15% protein.

The popularity of the Dr. Atkins diet is that you can huge volumes of the allowed foods. You can also check to see if it's working by buying ketosticks to see if your body is indeed using your fat for energy or a state of ketosis. I used it once and if you stick to it religiously, you will loose weight, guaranteed.

The South Beach diet does allow certain fruits and low carb foods. It's more managable than Dr. Atkins

Just saying "high fat" or "low fat" is too general, too vague. It's not just fat, but what kind of fat. Right now there's a consensus developing that the best oils and fats are coconut oil and avocado oil. The worst fats are hydrogenated oils/trans fats. A certain amount of carbs aren't necessarily bad, but sugars are almost always to be avoided. By the way, some of the newer disease-specific diets are low carb. Diets that are anti-cancer, anti-epilepsy and anti-fungal are all very low carb. But the carbs have to be quality carbs with an emphasis on cruciferous vegetables. Certain nuts and berries are allowed in moderation. There are also new diets that involve fasting or very low calorie eating because it has been found that doing it enhances immunity and increases longevity.

Butter is actually healthy. I'm talking about real, organic butter. The best fats for men are monounsaturated fats and saturated fats. My diet consists of around 40% carbs, 40% fat and 20% protein. I eat three whole eggs a day and I cook in butter and coconut oil and my HDL and LDL cholesterol are perfect.

Healthy fat sources are:

Whole eggs
Organic beef
Organic butter
Nuts (Pecan, Brazil and Macadamia)
Natural peanut butter
Coconut oil
Extra virgin olive oil
Dark chocolate (70+%)
Avocados

Low carb diets are idiotic because it's bad for your libido and mental and fysical strength. The only thing that matters is insulin sensitivity, which can be achieved with intermittent fasting and/or eating complex carbohydrates.

I agree that low-carb is idiotic.

Unless you have an illness and truly benefit from avoiding carbs, you should eat carbs.

I eat about 150 grams or 600 calories from carbs a day. That's low compared to the USDA food pyramid recommendation. High end if you ask someone truly on a low carb diet.

In my opinion 150 grams is on the low-end as well, but it's probably just enough. I eat 200-250 grams which according to some food extremists will lead to diabetes.

Just wondering, have you been following the program of Engineering the Alpha?

Never heard of Engineering the Alpha.

Yeah, 150 grams of carbs keeps my macros where I want them.

Soon I will try bone broth at an Italian restaurant named Hearth and Brodo in Manhattan.
