So who's playing? Would be a nice score to hit it. $800 million as of now. I'm thinking it should get close to $900 million by tomorrow's drawing.

I know some people here in Utah are making a little trip across the Idaho border to buy tickets. Hope Springs eternal, I guess.

Same here Ivy, I think Bama and Utah are the only 2 states in the union without a lottery. People are flocking from my area to Georgia to buy them.

The only thing certain is that at least one winning ticket will have been sold in an area known for a strong organized crime presence.

I haven't bought a lottery ticket in years, BUT I am thinking of buying one, though they just mentioned the odds of winning are so slim. Still!!!!! grin Hard to imagine nobody winning this one BUT they said if there was no winner, of course jackpot would be over a Billion!!! Can you imagine? lol

Sure would be nice to win that kind of cash prize, but you could kiss your privacy good-bye. Every Tom, Dick, and Harry you've ever crossed paths with in life would come out of the wood work looking for a hand-out.

If you think you will live another 30 years it's better to get the annuity, since you get more money. It's like being on retirement...a REALLY good retirement plan. If you have health issues or are already up in years, then take the immediate lump sum payment. Then of course you have to pay the federal government, which is around 40%. Obama's gotta have money for his vacations. Then there's the state taxes, but there's a few states that don't have any, like California. If you want to be anonymous, go see an attorney right away and set up an LLC. It's the best way. Oh yeah, you probably won't want to vote for Bernie Sanders since you will be in the 1% and he'll want to confiscate about 90%. You'll be lucky if you still have what you started out with BEFORE you won. Good luck.

I'm not sure. I think it would be better if someone took the lump sum. The reason is, if things got bad enough where the government had a hard time paying what it owed people (not hard to imagine), I suspect lotto winners wouldn't be too high on the priority list.

Ivy, that's always possible. Right now Illinois can't pay its lottery winners. I believe there's at least one lawsuit against the state for its failure to pay. Puerto Rico is bankrupt. The federal government has a national debt of almost $20 trillion. The entire country has unfunded mandates totaling about $250 trillion. So taking the immediate payout may not be such a bad idea. May want to start looking into other countries to live. I hear Canada is more financially stable, but with the new SJW prime minister, things aren't certain there either.

One winner each on California, Florida and Tennessee. Twelve people won the lesser five number prize of $1 million and 7 power play winners ($2 million).

Well I can confirm it wasn't me. Dammit! lol

I did see the 7/11 store owner in his crowded store. They say a million dollars goes to the store. Not too shabby.

Btw, can the winner/s stay anonymous or do they have to make their name public? Can you imagine these people be contacted by all kinds of scams?

Anyway, maybe next time it'll be my turn. wink

Some states allow you to remain anonymous and others don't -- I don't know why you can't be, what a nightmare! However, I hear you can create an LLC corporation and claim that as the "winner" to help protect yourself...

I just saw story from Chino Hills store. According to reporter, in CA you DO have to come forward if you win the lottery. You have to give your name. That would suck.

Like I'll ever have that problem. Ha ha ha! lol On the other hand, I guess for over a billion dollars, who cares? LOL

Well, no one got the $1.6 billion since it got divided three ways.
