Same here Ivy, I think Bama and Utah are the only 2 states in the union without a lottery. People are flocking from my area to Georgia to buy them. I was in carrollton,ga Wednesday and it was utter chaos there because of the Alabama folks there at the gas station

If you think you will live another 30 years it's better to get the annuity, since you get more money. It's like being on retirement...a REALLY good retirement plan. If you have health issues or are already up in years, then take the immediate lump sum payment. Then of course you have to pay the federal government, which is around 40%. Obama's gotta have money for his vacations. Then there's the state taxes, but there's a few states that don't have any, like California. If you want to be anonymous, go see an attorney right away and set up an LLC. It's the best way. Oh yeah, you probably won't want to vote for Bernie Sanders since you will be in the 1% and he'll want to confiscate about 90%. You'll be lucky if you still have what you started out with BEFORE you won. Good luck.

The reason is, if things got bad enough where the government had a hard time paying what it owed people (not hard to imagine), I suspect lotto winners wouldn't be too high on the priority list.

Ivy, that's always possible. Right now Illinois can't pay its lottery winners. I believe there's at least one lawsuit against the state for its failure to pay. Puerto Rico is bankrupt. The federal government has a national debt of almost $20 trillion. The entire country has unfunded mandates totaling about $250 trillion. So taking the immediate payout may not be such a bad idea. May want to start looking into other countries to live. I hear Canada is more financially stable, but with the new SJW prime minister, things aren't certain there either.

Well I can confirm it wasn't me. Dammit! I did see the 7/11 store owner in his crowded store. They say a million dollars goes to the store. Not too shabby. Btw, can the winner/s stay anonymous or do they have to make their name public? Can you imagine these people be contacted by all kinds of scams? Anyway, maybe next time it'll be my turn. TIS

Btw, can the winner/s stay anonymous or do they have to make their name public? Some states allow you to remain anonymous and others don't -- I don't know why you can't be, what a nightmare! However, I hear you can create an LLC corporation and claim that as the "winner" to help protect yourself...

And yes, I guess I'll have to wait, too, to purchase either the Corleone Compound or the Playboy Mansion...

I just saw story from Chino Hills store. According to reporter, in CA you DO have to come forward if you win the lottery. You have to give your name. That would suck. Like I'll ever have that problem. Ha ha ha! On the other hand, I guess for over a billion dollars, who cares? LOL TIS

I'm cursed. Saturday I bought 5 games. NOT ONE F'N NUMBER. Wed. 3 games. TWO NUMBERS...IN Different games. Doesn't God know that I would give most of it to feed the poor. Did you tell him?
