I'm gonna go ahead and assume this is going to be a difficult question to really answer but I'm curious as to the actual amount of dope that the top guys were moving back in the 30s, 40s,50s and then up to the 70s and 80s with the newer organizations. I ask because nowadays its not uncommon for multi ton shipments to be seized how do those numbers compare with earlier shipments. I'm assuming it was owhere near that but are we talking 100 kilos of smack 50? How much was really considered a lot back then?

Exact amounts are hard to come by but reports like the National Drug Threat Assessments at different points from 2000 until 2009, as well as the New York/New Jersey HIDTA reports, talked about the LCN being involved at the wholesale and midlevel of marijuana and ecstasy dealing, midlevel of cocaine dealing, and heroin to a lesser extent. In recent times we've also seen the mob get very involved in dealing prescription drugs.

I was just curious how the actual amounts they moved/imported compared to the amounts some of the present day orgs that currently are at top of the drug food chain are moving.

i know the gambinos and bonannos got busted for bringing in 500 kilos of cocaine and selling heroin to a FBI agent last year
