It's not. And I have no idea where he gets the idea that there's little or no heat up there.

You mean like the 2006 case that put Tommy Milo and Jimmy Galante out of the garbage business for good? The case where the Feds sold property and equipment that belonged to Jimmy and Tommy for pennies on the dollar?

And it wasn't because of fines or forfeiture, it was out of pure spite. They could have paid that money ten times over. And that's not to mention the millions in cash fines and that it was Matty's last case as an active Westside guy. The guy was a legend, and went out like a bum in a shit case.

And as far as bookmaking, shylocking and the scrutiny that go along with them, every Stamford based Gambino soldier, from Cosmo to Piccolo to Breezy to Tony himself, has either ended up murdered, or doing multiple multi-year stretches.

What I'm leading up to is this: For a town its size, Stamford probably receives more Federal attention (again, per capita) than New York does. That's why they haven't made anyone up there since Tony back in '88.

Now, we'll see what happens. If they make a local, it's status quo. If they send someone up to take over who's Bronx-based but lives in Upper Westchester, it's a whole new ball game. And there ain't shit they can do about it.

Sorry for he rant, DB. You're a good guy. But you have no idea the harassment that Tony and his family had to endure. Rhonda (his wife) would receive regular visits from the Feds WHILE TONY WAS IN JAIL.

Again, I hope I didn't offend you. But this one was rough and hit pretty close to home.

Thanks mightyhealthy

I think people are reading into things too much w regards to my post

And I agree with your post , that their are simply decent rackets up there . gambling no one will see as its all on line but people I have worked with all bet on sports and loved ucon (!slot I CT people work in Manhatten )

We used to go to the Big east tourney every year and it was awesome and the ucon crowd was usually the best and ucon always seemed to do good in those tourneys when they weren't expected too , just some classic battles , especially vs cuse

In regards to LE , I asked my friend tand CT is much less a priority than NY and NJ , which is all I said .

Anyway I have no desire for MB fights , but with all the $ in CT these days , compared to even 30 years ago given all the hedgies there , it seems like an area OC should be around

The big East tournaments were legendary. It's such a shame what happened.

I miss the old Big East so much! Will never forget the Ray Allen and Allen Iverson years in the Big East tourney. I used to leave the office and go to all the games throughout the day with big bets on them the last few years of the old Big East

I miss Jim Valvano. Not the best coach of all-time, but certainly among the classiest. And being Italian didn't hurt grin.

He is a legend! I want to uconn, too, which was great. Good school, becoming a great one.

Like I mentioned to DB, a lot of cows and farms. Not exactly wiseguy territory.

DB, please dont out words in my mouth. we've only spoke a few times via pm. the heat is incredible over here. much more than anyone would think. stamford is a fucking death or jail wish. and the rest of connecticut isnt better.
Ill tell a quick story. a friend of mine had a guy on a .25 sheet. he owed maybe 2k. he didnt have it. he threatened to call the FBI. not the local cops. the fucking fbi. over 2k!
ill give you another.the popular bust with dean and those guys. you know how they got caught? they opened up a poker club in hamden. that lasted a whole 2 days before the local street crime unit was all over them and the dealers caved faster than something that caves fast. they dont want CT being NJ plain and simple. its hot as hades here.
CT bookies dont even wanna take baseball! they take the fucking summers off.
white collar PB already answered.
re neighborhoods: there are some in new haven (wooster st area) and bridgeport (madison ave) but just remnants. the Avest's are in a parking lot now. they dont close the street down like they used to. just a few delis and pretentious restaurants. its over. its probably been over I just didnt notice.

No one said that he didn't mean well. He's a good kid and I went out of my way to point that out:

Now, again, I'm speaking for myself, not for Cheech. But DB has no idea what a hard-on they have for gambling in Connecticut. Do you know that when they pool a Federal grand jury in a New Haven case, they intentionally choose people who live in the sticks because when they hear those numbers thrown around it offends them as working people? Is that playing fair?

How's this for an absolute fact? I mentioned Johnny DePoli and Taylor Breton in an earlier post. They both died last year. These were two of the biggest and wealthiest bookmakers in the history of Connecticut at one time. And they both died broke.

Between what they had on paper (that's street slang for uncollected money, which usually averages anywhere between thirty and forty percent of a bookmaker's winnings), their legal fees, and their lost earnings for the years they were in the can, they left absolutely nothing to envy.

Long story short: The Federal Prosecutors in the District of Connecticut truly believe that they're doing "God's Work." And to top it all off, they have something like the fifth highest conviction rate of any Federal Court in the country (and we all know that as a whole, the Feds bat higher than .900 at trial).

We're all supposed to be friends, DB. This was far from personal.

Because you know that, in his line of work, in that District, prison is a revolving door. So I don't blame you one bit.

the thing thats fucked up is they arent in the same compound. one has been in for almost ten and the other just got there. theres no rhyme or reason. thats why i laugh when they say this guys boss but hes in a max prison. my guy is in a dorm and i cant even see him. if i miss his call i have to wait until he decides to call again.

Always enjoyed visiting Penn State.

Had too many "Are You Hungry" sandwiches though, pretty sure I'm still gaining weight from those 7 years ago

Long time lurker, felt I needed to make my first post about this. You owe DB an apology, he's a good guy and from where I'm sitting, one of the better posters on this board.

Everyone that knows me knows one thing, I never mince words. I call it like I see it, I'm from the old school. You are very quick to attack people on here, I've seen several instances where you went after guys for no reason. Well thats going to stop right here and now. And before any of you accuse me of being that Jack fellow, know this: Ive built a reputation from the neighborhood I'm from for being a loyal and standup guy. Take that for what its worth. Cut it out with the personal attacks.

If you're a long time lurker you'll know Cheech is a valued poster/member.

And doesnt need an education in etiquette from someone who signed on 48hrs ago.

MORGAN: Why didn't you fight him at the park if you wanted to? I'm not goin' now, I'm eatin' my snack.
