There is a discussion on this show in another thread but since this thread is solely dedicated to the documentary I'll let this stand (the other thread started out as a discussion on other subjects).
Personally I think this show is OK, but just OK. It takes some liberties with known facts** but generally it is based on known information about the Mob and most of us on this board probably won't learn anything new.
** two examples that come to mind now are this documetary shows Arnold Rothstein being shot in the street and that's not true; AND Lucky Luciano being kidnapped while walking down the street with Meyer Lansky, and likewise, that isn't true either.
Overall, I think most of us who like mob stuff will enjoy the show.

I agree SC. Many of we Board members are thoroughly familiar with the Mafia's history, so this series is nothing more than a reprise. Yes, some of its content is not factual. In some ways, it treats some Mafia history in a quite cursory manner and its actors don't come across to me as authentic. As you state though, it just barely enjoyable.

i have been watching it and it doesn't seem to stray off the topic. meyer lansky is portrayed realistically and not as a killer using a Thompson machine gun. i like when they talk to some of the actors that were in the sopranos. rudy guiliani has even been featured along with sonny grasso. grasso was the partner of Eddie Egan i.e. the real popeye Doyle.
