The real-life Enoch "Nucky" Johnson was never as powerful as "Nucky Thompson" in "Boardwalk Empire." He was a big fish in a little pond: Atlantic County NJ. He had a share of booze, gambling and prostitution in Atlantic City and made excellent money for that time. But he never met any of the powerful gangsters shown on TV until 1929. He was indicted for tax evasion in 1941 and served four years in prison. He died poor.

there are no records of johnson sending a hit out on anyone. BUT he probably had a little muscle(being the Atlantic police force. note he actually did meet alot of the top gangsters of the era. i believe he was a part of the combined. him and rothstein were pretty close allies in the underworld. BUT he wasn't as powerful and smart as in boardwalk empire. i believe he even had torrio's support but not al's. al and his didn't see eye to eye i believe when al went down to atlanta he and johnson got into a pretty big argument. also i believe there was a summit meeting in atlanta.

so he was a big fish in the underworld but probably didn't have a army like luciano. he was probably more like rothstein.
