Great man, American, read his book several times. Very sad

I agree. He's one of the great Italian Americans. Which is why this doesn't belong in the organized crime section with a bunch of not so great Italian Americans wink.

RIP Louis Zamperini. His story is a road on life. To come from nothing to being a NCAA champion in the mile, to being a war hero is a story worth reading. He really was one of the greatest in our lifetime.

"I have this Nightmare. I'm on 5th avenue watching the St. Patrick's Day parade and I have a coronary and nine thousand cops march happily over my body." Chief Sidney Green

An amazing man and an amazing story. But, what a shame that he didn't live long enough to see Angelina Jolie's film about him scheduled for release in December.

"Sure I cook with wine - sometimes I even add it to the food!"

"When life itself seems lunatic, who knows where madness lies?"

"It was a grass harp... And we listened."

"Do any human beings ever realize life while they live it? Every, every minute?"

"No. Saints and poets, maybe... they do some."
