It's that time of year again, but alas, I will not be watching the Oscars live this year so won't be posting a play-by-play. In fact, I planned on switching to the Primetime Emmy's for that after last year, as I'm more familiar with TV than current films... It should be a good show, though -- I love Ellen
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

I know what you mean Geoff. I too am more in tuned to what's on tv than the movies. Still, especially since it's on so early here, I'll probably tune in. I like Ellen too. She's great at hosting award shows. Here's the major contenders: Best picture "12 Years a Slave" "The Wolf of Wall Street" "Captain Phillips" "Her" "American Hustle" "Gravity" "Dallas Buyers Club" "Nebraska" "Philomena" Best director Steve McQueen -- "12 Years a Slave" David O. Russell -- "American Hustle" Alfonso Cuaron -- "Gravity" Alexander Payne -- "Nebraska" Martin Scorsese -- "The Wolf of Wall Street" Best actor Bruce Dern -- "Nebraska" Chiwetel Ejiofor -- "12 Years a Slave" Matthew McConaughey -- "Dallas Buyers Club" Leonardo DiCaprio -- "The Wolf of Wall Street" Christian Bale -- "American Hustle" Best actress Amy Adams -- "American Hustle" Cate Blanchett -- "Blue Jasmine" Judi Dench -- "Philomena" Sandra Bullock -- "Gravity" Meryl Streep -- "August: Osage County" Best supporting actor Barkhad Abdi -- "Captain Phillips" Bradley Cooper -- "American Hustle" Jonah Hill -- "The Wolf of Wall Street" Jared Leto -- "Dallas Buyers Club" Michael Fassbender -- "12 Years a Slave" Best supporting actress
Jennifer Lawrence -- "American Hustle" Lupita Nyong'o -- "12 Years a Slave" June Squibb -- "Nebraska" Julia Roberts -- "August: Osage County" Sally Hawkins -- "Blue Jasmine" Complete list here: http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/16/showbiz/2014-oscar-nominations-list/TIS

I haven't seen one of the movie nominees so really can't judge. I will admit tho, this year there are more then one that I'd like to see. Usually MOST are not that appealing to me. Of the ones nominated, I wanna see: 12 Years a Slave" "The Wolf of Wall Street" "American Hustle" "Dallas Buyers Club" Gravity maybe but I think that one probably should be seen in the theater. Plus I THINK the ending was given away to me earlier, and that ruined it for me. TIS

Dallas Buyers Club really looks interesting TimeWarner is giving me my choice for a "Free movie" because there was an outage during the SuperBowl(which is funny cause I never watch the superbowl lol). Dallas Buyer's Club is one of the couple I'm considering. I understand it's based on a true story of a man who has aids and is told he only has a month to live. McConohay, I hear, lost a scary amount of weight for the role and I hear does a great acting job. TIS

I never seen a movie that McConohay was in, but from the trailer's I seen he does look like his acting is really good

I was surprised to see Kim Novak. What happened to her voice? TIS Looking it up, she had a horse riding accident back 2006. She suffered a punctured lung, broken ribs, and nerve damage OMG, I didn't know that. How sad. I thought something must have happened. Thanks for the research Bam. TIS

I was surprised to see Kim Novak. What happened to her voice? Never mind her voice. What happened to her face? She looks like ten too many facelifts went badly. SC, where the heck you been? Yes, I notice her face too and you know what? I see more and more female celebs looking so plastic. Melanie Griffith was on Hawaii Five O Friday and had the same plastic look as do quite a few others. I think they get carried away. They'll ALL look like Joan Rivers at a certain point. It's as though their face would crack if they smile. TIS

I really think Ellen should host every year I'd take that over Seth McFarlane hosting any year.
