Look it up on a reliable used-book site:
www.abebooks.com
They'll give you a choice, and tell you the condition. I've done lots of business with them, and they're reliable.

Don't feel bad about not having read the book. I've just started it myself. To me though you can't be considered a GF fan until you've read the book. That's why I started it in the first place.

$27 sounds very expensive to me unless it's a rarity

In the UK I bought the paperback version for £6.99 out of a book shop, but could have had it for less over the internet (Saw it and couldn't be bothered to wait!).

Buy it if you can afford it, it's a brilliant book that will surprise you with the extra subplots that weren't included in the movie(for the better of the movie IMHO).

Check the book out at your library. That's free! Some bigger libraries, Like the Detroit public Library will have the LP's, VHS, Disc as well.

Our library has it on tape, unabridged. I drive an hour each way to work and I listened to it just last year. Great way to pass the time.

I bought it yesterday and have read over 100 pages so far. Its very addictive and hard to put down despite having a lot of other things to do yesterday.

I got it for £6.99 (paperback) in Ottikars(sp?) book shop. Different front cover to the ones on Amazon.

Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers........Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future.
Choose life.

You got that right MICK. I just read the Godfather for the first time over Spring Break on the plane, I couldn't put it down! After reading it on the plane I read it again. It's a GREAT book (except the stuff about Jules Segal and Lucy Mancini).

"Fredo, you're my older brother, and I love you. But don't ever take sides with anyone against the family again. Ever."

"Fredo, you're nothing to me now; not a brother, not a friend. I don't want to know you or what you do."

"Only don't tell me you're innocent. Because it insults my intelligence."

Totally agree with you there, and as for the Jules/Lucy stuff it does seem like poor soap opera stuff, huh? smile
