Frank DeCicco Underboss for the Gambino Family.
Was the Castellano assassination motivation for Frank DeCicco Bomb attack or as some suspect nothing at all.
The Castellano assassination infuriated Genovese crime family boss Vincent Gigante. Only the Mafia Commission, which was controlled by Gigante, had the authority to assassinate a boss. More importantly, Castellano had been Gigante's ally. In retribution, Gigante asked Lucchese crime family boss Victor Amuso and underboss Anthony Casso to plan Gotti's murder.
In November 1997, author Jerry Capeci reported that Casso, now a government witness, revealed that the plotters selected Genovese associate Herbert Pate to kill Gotti with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).[8] Casso told authorities,
"The plotters reportedly used a bomb to divert suspicion toward Sicilian hoods, who often use explosives. Pate, who had no links to the Gambino family, was unlikely to be recognized by mobsters while staking out DeCicco."
On April 13, 1986, Pate drove up to the Veterans & Friends Social Club in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn where Gotti and DeCicco were supposed to be attending a meeting. Pate walked toward DeCicco's car carrying two grocery bags. Near the car, he dropped one of the bags. As he was picking up groceries, Pate secretly attached a bomb to the car underside. In a short while, DeCicco exited the club and entered the car. Pate saw Lucchese soldier Frank "Frankie Hearts" Bellino standing next to DeCicco's car. Mistaking Bellino for Gotti, Pate detonated the bomb

Chin.
I don't think Amuso was boss yet. I think Corolla got Vic and Gas to do it. Carallo had been away since late 85ish, Vic and Gas got go ahead from the Chin. Was at NYU housing just after Chin had his heart valve done. Mid 86ish I think

Sounds good east.
The Documentary on Vic and Gas then is way off. Dont take what I say as 100% fact, Im going off memery. I am certain Chin did give the go. I do remember they waited while he recouped from his heart deal. Again I could be wrong, on this situation though I am giving this as a "final answer" Ivy the life lineisnt here to fix or affirm my answer.

Casso talks about it in depth in his book. Chin gave the order. Ivy, were on a roll buddy. What book though? Casso can read and write? Love his daughter, best ass in the world. She married Slick Geraci! Ivy, was the timeline and heart problem correct or am I losing my mind?

It's much like Gravano's book in that respect, though I think Gravano hooked up with a more reputable author. As for the heart problem, I'm not sure. But you'll remember it was later on, when Chin and Gotti met for the Commission meeting, that Chin showed them all the scar on his chest after having surgery.

To be honest I never knew if the two meet for sure. Gotti and Chin for some reason I cant picture in the same room? Talk about the sparrow and the Eagle!

Both Gravano and Casso confirmed the meeting they had. It was the only time Chin and Gotti met face to face. If I remember right, the meeting consisted of Chin and Benny Eggs (Genovese), Gotti and Gravano (Gambino), and Amuso and Casso (Lucchese). The Colombos and Bonannos weren't included. The meeting was held in an apartment complex where some of Chin's relatives lived, and where he was recovering.
Casso and Gravano arrived together. As they were walking through the underground garage, Casso made the remark that it would be a great place for a hit.
During the meeting, Chin ,of course, told Gotti that he hadn't been involved in the DeCicco bombing and never sanctioned Manna's plot against him.
Gotti reminded Chin that there were about 30 empty slots to fill in the Genovese family. Gravano said Chin immediately recognized Gotti was trying to get Chin to make some new guys, after which he'd let them know he was the one who got Chin to make them. Chin said that he would "make those moves" when he was ready.
As Ciro said above, after the meeting, Gotti told everyone that his son Junior had just been made. Chin said he was "Sorry to hear that." The way Gravano described it, he wasn't being a smart ass. He really meant it. Gravano said that Chin, like himself, would never allow their sons to be made.

Casso talks about it in depth in his book. Chin gave the order. Was that where it mentions guys who constructed the bomb used toy parts from ToysRus for the igniter or whatever you call it? I know I read that somewhere.

I know I read that somewhere. Yeah, they tested it out in the woods too. Herbert Pate was the bomb expert they recruited for the job. What was benny eggs role during that meeting? Was he capo, underboss, ect? Yes, he was underboss.

article about frank deCicco bombing the day after it happened april 14 1986 which shows how far off law enforcement was as to who or what the bombing was about blaming it on a internal rift within the family when chin really ordered the bombing in retaliation for the castallano hit which wasnt sanctioned by the commision http://www.scribd.com/doc/126253113/Frank-DeCicco

this reminds me, I keep wondering how Frankie "Hearts" Bellino died in, I believe, 2001? I assume he recovered, more or less, although the full extent of his injuries from the bombing is somewhat vague, albeit serious, in the accounts I've seen. article about frank deCicco bombing the day after it happened april 14 1986 which shows how far off law enforcement was as to who or what the bombing was about blaming it on a internal rift within the family when chin really ordered the bombing in retaliation for the castallano hit which wasnt sanctioned by the commision http://www.scribd.com/doc/126253113/Frank-DeCicco

This is the way sammy gravano describes the scene in his book underboss, Frankie Hearts [Bellino] goes flying backwards. The blast blew his shoes off. And his toes. I go flying across the street. And theres Frankie Hearts with the blood shooting out of his feet. I saw Frankie DeCicco laying on the ground beside the car. With the fire, it could blow up again. I tried to pull him away. I grabbed a leg, but he aint coming with it. The leg is off. One of his arms is off. I got my hand under him and my hand went right through his body to his stomach. Theres no ass. His ass, his balls, everything, is blown completely off. I was wearing a white shirt. I looked at my shirt, amazed. There wasnt a drop of blood on it. The force of the blast, the concussion, blew most of the fluids out of Frankies body. He had no blood left in him, nothing, not an ounce this reminds me, I keep wondering how Frankie "Hearts" Bellino died in, I believe, 2001?
