Which in your opinion is the better pacino/De Palma movie Carlito's way or Scarface? In my opinion Carlito's way is better because its a better performance all round from Pacino and its not over the top like Scarface. I give overall Carlito's way 9/10
Scarface 7/10

For me its Scarface hands down. its Mr al Pacino's greatest performance in all his movies and better story. just my two cents . . .

I've posted this before when we've discussed a comparison between the two, and it's not an original thought of mine (I read it somewhere, just don't know where).

Anyhow, Carlito's Way can kind of be viewed as a sequel to Scarface.

What would have happened if Tony hadn't been killed, but gone to jail instead and then gotten out on a technicality and decided to try and go straight..

I'm with Goodfella on which I like better. Scarface, but it's close. I like Carlito a lot as well, and both are probably in my Top Twenty.

wasn't KING OF NEW YORK viewed by some folks as the sequel to SCARFACE of sorts as well?!?!

Anyway, remember that Pacino considers SCARFACE to be his favorite movie of his...over GODFATHER 1 and 2, etc.

Thus, SCARFACE wins. However, CARLITTO'S WAY was quite damn good neverless...and inspiring a memorable comic line in BROKEN LIZARD'S CLUB DREAD...."Peen-ah-Lop!"

I agree with goodfellaoggie. Scarface is way better (any my favorite movie of all time) as well as Pacino's best performance! I've only seen Carlito's Way once but compared to Scarface I thought it sucked!

While we are all entitled to our opinions and likes, I disagree. In my opinion Scarface was much better than Carlito's way. Not that I am saying that Carlito's Way was not good, because it was very good. While Pacino was excellent in Carlito's Way, he was outstanding in Scarface. Besides his accent, just look at the body motions, twitching and facial expressions that he makes in Scarface. As a matter of fact when we were all at the convention, Pacino's roles came up in conversation and we all agreed that were it not for the language in Scarface, Pacino would have definately been nominated for an acadamy award for the part of Tony Montana.
