Just curious if there were any independent crews operating in Phila territory ? If so who are the leaders and what are they involved in ?

im assuming that you mean of italian decent. the only one that i know of is the 10th and O gang, which i believe operates in south philly and are mainly involved in drug dealing. as for being independent, they dont seem to be under direct control of the mob, but it wouldnt surprise me if they are taxed on certain rackets. not sure about the leaders, but i remember they were involved with joey merlino in the late 90's, not to sure as too the extent. as in new york these smaller italian american street gangs seem to be a feeder team for the mafia as some high ranking members get noticed and potentially might get called up to the big leagues.

Major northeast illegal bookies (Italian no less) like the Mastronardos, who are not mobbed up, are much more the exception than the rule.
