Does anyone else here wish for a Sopranos prequel (either a TV series or a series of books) set from around the 60s to the early 80s? Basically a series showing the days when Junior, Johnny Boy, Feech and others were in charge, when Paulie was a young enforcer who all the younger wannabe kids looked up to, when Pussy was a loyal soldier of the Family, showing the rise of Tony, Jackie Aprile, Ralphie, Silvio, Tony B and other characters, and showing Tony's youth and how his parents were beyond the bits we got--How they were and how Tony became who he became. And also to get a chance to see unseen characters like Dickie Moltisanti--Chris's father and Tony's hero--and Old Man DiMeo, the founder of the DiMeo Crime Family?
I just want to see more of Johnny Boy and Junior. The actors who portrayed them were really good and the fact that Johnny Boy got panic attacks like Tony is compelling. Since it was before the age where psychology was accepted by the masses, I wonder what he thought they were.
I'd love to see the infamous takedown of Feech La Manna's card game by Tony and Jackie, Tony rising to Capo as his father gets sick, and the hijack which got Tony B. twenty years in jail. Or a younger Philly Leotardo interacting with the just as sociopathic Johnny Boy (Philly seemed to respect Johnny as an old school guy whereas he never liked Tony).

I would take a prequel, sequel anything. They need a Sopranos movie, hell they made 2 movies about Sex in the Shitty, can we get one Soprano movie?
Yeah, Little Pussy. You think he's going to fuck with Big Pussy? My Pussy? Tony Soprano, 1999

I'd love a prequel. A sequel doesn't really work because all the characters are dead and everything kind of wraped up. You don't have to worry about cast members returning either, because they would all be played by different, younger actors.
A prequel showing Junior, Johnny Boy, DeMeo, Feech and Dickie running things while Tony, Ralph, Silvio, Jackie, Pussy, Tony B etc. moving up in the family would be awesome. Add Paulie (whose kind of inbetween generations) and a young Chris (before he became a mobster) and you'd have an awesome prequel. I don't think it would all fit in a movie, so maybe a show or mini-seires would be better.

To be fair Paulie is only kind of inbetween generations because "I survived by the skin of my balls when the Columbos were going at it"
But I agree, I think this has a lot of potential, there are some really good storylines that could be explored here. One thing I would very much like to see would be the interactions between Johnny, Junior, and Ercole (the dimwitted brother).

id rather see a scorsese led series based in brooklyn in the eighties.or even today.beats thefuck out of north caldwell and carmelas flat ass.lol. Haha Carmela did have a flat ass. For the older women in the show I liked Rosalie Aprile. Just googled her to see her real name is Sharon Angela, I know she had the raspy voice and shit but I'm sure she was a fox in her younger days.

Yeah what's great about this show is that it is just a few years in the "life" of this family, an 8 year glimpse, if you will. I believe that any period of time with these people can be just as interesting, at least if we follow some of the more interesting characters. Early 60's would be good, but also the early 80's with Tony first being made, stuff like that. Then we'd also have more of the guys who we never saw together at the same time, like Ralph, Tony B., Jackie and Big Puss.
The only thing is that there would also have to be something exciting with the home life, family, since that balance is what kept it all together.
