Does anyone have anymore pics of celebrities with mobsters? And I know this is off topic but I always felt that De Niro was a much better actor than Al Pacino. Nope. Pacino is definitely the better actor of the two. Idk. Both are great but pacino is only defined by one role while de niro has had more defining roles. They both have had a lot of terrible roles. But I'd say if both of their careers ended after the 90s or even before the 90s started, De Niro would be seen as the better actor. De Niro I would put in the top 3 all time idk if I would put pacino up there. I think the main reason they're always compared so much is because they came up at around the same time and they're both Italian americans who have played mobsters. I personally prefer Deniro too, but what one role are you talking about? If it's Michael Corleone i wouldn't even say that's his best performance, i'd say that's Dog Day Afternoon. As well as DDA and the three Godfathers, there's Scarface,Serpico,And Justice for all. I'd also say he's very underrated in Donnie Brasco too. For Deniro i'd say, GF2,Taxi Driver,Raging Bull,Goodfellas,King of Comedy,Casino and Heat. Maybe Once Upon a Time In America too, but Deniro always annoyed me in that. Justice for all is a good flick too. And I agree with Donnie Brasco; you listen to the tapes with Lefty talking to Pistone on the phone and then Pacinos performance in the movie and it's like listening to the two same people.
This life of ours, this is a wonderful life. If you can get through life like this, hey, thats great. But it's very, very unpredictable. There are so many ways you can screw it up.-Paul Castellano (he would know)

I agree with that completely. Dog day afternoon is one of my favorite pacino performances if not my favorite. But people really only know him as Michael corleone rather than sonny wortzik it seems. I always thought de niro was great in midnight run, the fan, cape fear and deer hunter too. Pacino was also great in Carlito's way. I thought De Niro was great in his new movie silver linings playbook too. I think he won the oscar for it but I'm not sure. I know he was at least nominated. I felt he should've won. But De Niro was also extremely versatile as an actor. Some other actors I feel that are great are jack Nicholson, Denzel Washington, marlon Brando and so on. I think Jonny Depp is really something special. He can play pretty much any role at a high level. What people, you? I think you're either underrating Pacino or overrating Deniro. I completely agree with you on Deniro i prefer him too , but can you point towards his versatility compared to Pacino? In all honesty i wouldn't say either are incredibly versatile. Not many actors are. My favourite actor ever, Humphrey Bogart played more or less the same character in every movie. One versatile actor that popped into my mind right away was Gary Oldman, Sid Vicious, Leon villain, Dracula, Beethoven, Commissioner Gordon, etc.

That's my opinion. You ask people who they know al pacino as on the street and they'll say Michael corleone. People think of him as Michael corleone more so than any character he's played. He's had some great roles but honestly I've never been as impressed with him as others have been. That is after godfather trilogy and dog day afternoon of course. He seemed to over-act a lot by yelling. He also had a lot of sudden silences in pretty much everyone one of his movies. Not all of course, but a lot. I wouldn't really say that that in itself is great acting. And yelling and sudden silences seem to be his signature. In most credible top actor list you would see de niro ahead of pacino. And De Niro is much more versatile than pacino. Look at his roles compared to pacino's. Al's haven't been too much different from each other. De Niro's have been more various than Pacino's. And I feel like De Niro invests more into his movies. He basically acts as a co-director from what all of his documentaries have said. And he's been in 70 something movies compared to pacino who hasn't been in nearly as much. Most of their movies haven't been that good, but the ones that are, are legendary. Not every movie is gonna be great. But in the end, both are legends, both are in my top 10 but I definitely prefer De Niro over him. I asked you to show Deniro's versatility compared to Al's, as i expected you didn't make a case for either . Again you've attributed Pacino to The Godfaher, without watching or at least acknowledging his other roles. It doesn't matter what you decide is a defining role. What does this mean anyway - Al's haven't been too much different from each other. De Niro's have been more various than Pacino's. And I feel like De Niro invests more into his movies.

Cape fear, taxi driver, goodfellas, bloody mama, meet the parents, analyze this(both comedies), bang the drum slowly, raging bull, the fan, everybody's fine, silver linings playbook are all very different from each other. And I did acknowledge his other roles. Go back and read it. I said he was great in Godfather 1&2, dog day afternoon, Carlito's way, serpico, Donnie brasco and justice for all. Al Pacino's roles all haven't been too much different from each other. He plays best as a mobster or cop. He plays the same roles for the most part. Pacino is not good at comedy while De Niro has proved to be very good at comedy. I'm not saying in my opinion but based on his general reception when he was doing his comedy acts. De Niro has more range to go from character to character it seems. When I say he invests more, I mean look at what he did for raging bull, he gained like 60 pounds to portray the older jake Lamotta. He didn't eat for days to play his dug addicted character in bloody mama, he was a taxi driver in manhattan so he could get his role down for taxi driver, he even went to Sicily and lived there in order to get the language down for the Godfather 2. He always wanted to get his character down to the tee. For instance, when he played jimmy Conway he wanted to know the big things and little things about him, such as how he held a cigarette and so on. Based on the documentaries I've seen of him, he is basically the unofficial co-director because he always has input on his movies. Not all of them I'm sure, but many of them. Such as Scorsese's movies. Scorsese has said that De Niro helps a lot in the directing process and always has ideas on how to make the movie better.

When you put Pascale Eboli, did you mean Pasquale? I'm pretty sure that's Tommy Eboli's brother as well. Yes, it is or was Pasquale Eboli. Heres the original Vanity Fair article with the picture that talks about the day that Al Lettieri brought Pacino over to his relative Eboli's house. I think he also brought Brando there too, either the same day or another day. I forget which. http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/features/2009/03/godfather-family200903Al Lettieri was a badass!

Now I know Mazzones wifes name was Danielle Mazzone but someone reminded me the other day that he was seen with his wife on a mob talk video a few years back and she was a blonde.
