The novel states on pg. 198 that Vito's father was "hot-tempered"

So is it safe to say that Sonny inherited his hot-head from good ole Grandpa Andolini?

Could be. Puzo and FFC evidently think that "hot-headedness" is an inherited trait. Near the beginning of III, Vincent loses it in a confrontation with Zasa, and Michael mutters, "A temper like his father's."

Well, even if you look at the movies, a hot temper is indicated throughout the Andolini/Corleone line.

In GFII Vito's father is introduced as having been killed because he refused to give in to the local mafia chieftan. Instead of attending his father's funeral, big brother Paolo ran into the hills screaming revenge, so he too was killed.

Gotta give credit to Mama Andolini, who had the guts to bring little Vito to Ciccio in person to plead for his life and then daring to attack him in effect sacrifice her own life to give her son the seconds needed to run away.

Yep...probably in the blood.

Also, Michael tells Vincent that "your father had a way with the ladies too."

But I never got how those littel girls at the Commendatore party were writing love notes to Vincent when they could not possibly have seen him prior to the party. They didn't know him and he had only been there a short time and they could not have known who he was.

Excellent point!!

I think we have the makings of an 'unanswered question' equal in magnitude to 'Who opened the drapes' and 'Who killed the shooters...' !
