Did i find a gaffe (or am i just looking too hard)? I am watching Godfather - in the first time we see Michael and Kay, Michael just arrived at Connie's wedding and is busy trying to eat - he is explaining Luca and Tom Hagen to Kay. Kay has a lit cigarette in her left hand - when the camera angle switches to showing both Kay and Michael, the cigarette is no longer there, but when it switches back to the shot from behind Kay the cigarette seems to magically appear. Did she just switch it and i miss it, or did i find my first gaffe?
(Forgive me if this has been discussed before - still relatively new to the board.)

Yes, it's a 'gaffe' obviously due to numerous takes of the same scene. I noticed long ago how Kay's cig changes lengths throughout and sometimes is not in her hand at all.
I've learned to ignore it...what bothers me much more is how anyone can eat lasagne and be smoking a cigarette at the same time. Absoltuely gross.
Another similar one though not quite as blatant is when the baker is seeing Don Corleone to ask for Enzo's citizenship. At alternate moments he's holding a demitasse glass and then he's not.
