Anybody besides me get the chills when we see the shot of Luca Brasi sitting down after Vito calls him in up at Genco? It's just like...WHAM!...there's Luca basically staring you in the face.
What do you think this is the Army, where you shoot'em a mile away?
You've gotta get up close like this and bada-bing! you blow their brains all over your nice Ivy League suit.

I don't think anything conveys the insanity of Luca Brasi's mind like the novel.
That moment in the movie -- when Luca sits down and you see that warped, emotionless expression on his face -- has an even greater impact if you've read the novel and know exactly the kind of psychopath that Luca really is.

This is true, the film warns of Brasi's menace and fearsome reputation, but fails to make the reasons for such notoriety clear. Read the book, it will make you sick. Well, it ought to...
"Jonny Tightlips... you're shot! - whered' they get you?" "I ain't sayin' nutin'." "But what'll I tell the Doc?!" "Tell'um to suck a lemon."
