Was reading about Mob-eateries across the country on Philly.com.and this was one of the top ones.Is Steve connected or does he just have the last name.Seems like a real character.Has Philly done anything in South Florida since the Scarfo days?I've always heard it is open territory down here.

I should have myself more clear.When I said Steve,I am talking about the owner Steve Martorano who is the nephew of Angelo Bruno's man raymond ''Long John'' Martorano who was gunned down in 02 on his way to the doctor's office.A lot of people think Ligambi was behind that.

I know Steve Martorano, he is not connected at all. He is actully a local celebrity in Philly. He was once and on air personality on the very huge 610 WIP sports talk radio station. He now appears from time to time on the local Comcast sports tv shows along with various local news stations here during sports stories.

I'm not from Philly but you have to believe that Ligambi gave the okay. He seems to rarely condone violence, so when a guy is whacked out in the dramatic fashion that "Long John" was, you have to believe that Ligambi gave his blessing.

RE Martorano's Cafe: I've never been there. I live in Delray Beach for about four months a year, so it's only about a half hour drive for me. I have read about it though. The food is supposed to be pretty good, but their real draw is the whole wiseguy/nostalgia concept. They play mob movies on something like 20 televisions, day and night. Same goes for the music, nothing but 50s, 60s and 70s playing all day long.

Yeah Pizzaboy that's what I heard.I heard its the whole 9 yards mob-style,plus I think he also opened one up at the Hard-Rock in Hollywood,Florida,besides having one in Vegas.He's doing something right.

Yo Southphilly4ever I saw that same thing your talking about with WIP,but then I said wait a minute is this the same guy.Because when you read about Cafe Martorano on their web-site it tells about how Steve started selling sandwiches out of his apartment in South Pilly and was DJing at mob clubs like Valentinos in Cherry Hill owned by the Gambinos.He eventually bought his own restaraunt and then moved to Lauderdale in 93.It makes no mention of the radio personality at WIP,That's what threw me off.IS there 2 Steve Martorano's?

He is also in the Rio in Las vegas, and it is a different Steve Martorano. Not the one 610 WIP.
