OK, now here is something bothering me. I could've sworn that in the Godfather part I, Calo says that he will bring the suitcases out to the car, following which we see him bringing them to the back of the car, right before it blows up. Then he is alive and well in Part III. Now, let me know if my eyes are playing tricks on me or if I'm being forgetful, but if that is true I guess that means he either survived or else Puzo and Coppola themselves forgot that they filmed it that way.

Calo is smoking a cigarette and says something about "She wanted to drive to you" or something along those lines. Then Mike sees the other guy (name escapes my memory) walking away oddly and puts two and two together. Whoever was loading suitcases into the car was not Calo.

We do see Calo bringing suitcases to the car (and it was Calo because while eating he told Michael he would get take care of the luggage)...but since he does appear in GFIII we can assume he loaded the trunk and walked away just in time to avoid being blown to bits along with Appolonia.

You must understand that for GFIII they got back every cast member from the original that they possibly could.

in one of the deleted scenes of the movie ( that i have seen on tv before )after the explosin you see micheal in a bed, and calo in another room in a bed too. this is the scene where micheal just wakes up and says "appolonia" and then slips back into a coma or hwatever youd call it.

he puts the suitcases in the car and then closes the trunk...the camera flashes to micheal looking at fabrizzio, then looking to the car and screamining "appolonia, no" and calo is out of frame. prolly just walked away from the car enough to get the final brunt of it.

things like this are in the book and in some of the deleted scenes. i wish that more of it was in the movie. if anyone has not read the book they really have to....it is a compelte answer to almost any godfather "movie" related inaccuracy

I'm pretty sure Calo dies in the novel. He's standing right next to it and one of the lines is something like "And he knew Calo was also dead" or something like that.

Yes, Calo brings the baggage to the car. But then the scene switches to Michael and Fabrizzio. We are to assume that Calo by then had walked away fro the car.

Well I think he was supposed to be dead in part I, seeing as Mike was blasted for miles from where he was standing, no way could Calo have got a safe distance away in like 5 seconds. BUT we didn't SEE him die. Therefore FFC could bring him back and stretch reality

Sonny - Well then, business will have to suffer, all right? And listen, do me a favor, Tom. No more advice on how to patch things up, just help me win, please
