I realise their is a book topic but im pretty tied up atm and dont have time to read it all, im looking for a good mafia book which shows good insight into the mafia life? can anyone make some good suggestions please?

yes up until about 1993 i believe.....if you have an interest in the philly mob i would suggest "blood and honor" by george anastasia. if you have no interest in the scarfo reign leave this one alone its very very in depth

Judging by the description of what you're looking for, you'd probably want to go with a book like "Wiseguy" by Nicholas Pileggi or "Blood Oath" by George Freselone. These are from former mobsters themselves who flipped and later wrote a book about their life. Gives a very day to day look into the mob world. Much more so than a more generalized book like "Five Families."

wiseguy is an excelent read! entertaining and educational. if you were unaware it was the basis for goodfellas!

Yeah think im going to go with the wiseguy book, got alot of good reviews on amazon aswell, what are the michael franzese books like? Are they worth a read?

Capecis books are good to, Complete idiots guide to the mafia is one.

blood covenant the first half about his life in the mob/his dad,etc is a good read the rest is about him finding the lord

You thinking of buying them? Do it. I'm sure, Andy Mush and Michael's cousins could use the money, not to mention his own father. I stopped buying his books years ago though. Now I just mail money directly to Carmine Persico. It's really the best way. More efficient.
