I know this has probably been asked but what was Michaels bodyguard name? I love that guy! Whats the characters name and also the actors name? I've never seen him in any other movie. My favorite scene is when he is waiting outside Pentangellis door when Frankie comes home and he just turns his head....the snow...dressed in all black...priceless! Was he in GF1? Was he one of Vito's men? Was he in the novel?

I think he went unnamed, Oli. The movie credits refer to him only as "Michaels Bodyguard."

Actually, it's Busetta as identified in the GF Companion.

Yes, his name was never identified in the film. But some scripts and books identify him. Harlan Lebo identifies him as a gifted sculptor for whom acting was a hobby.

Regarding the Bocchiccios, I didn't know who they were until I read the novel, as I always wondered what Clemenza meant when he said something about the hostage playing pinochle at his place and his men are letting him win.

TBH, it's not actually stated anywhere that he was sent by the Bocchicchio's, but that's sort of assumed.

He could as well be sent by Don Tommasino, or the Corleones themselves.

But he really was a "zip" because in Coppola's personal notes about his ideas for The Godfather II, he speaks of Michael "importing a Sicilian bodyguard".

The Godfather wiki link is certainly interesting. I enjoyed the Bocchicchios in the novel and would have LOVED to have seen them in the films. But who wrote the wiki link? Is it sanctioned by Paramount or the Puzo family?

Bussetta was sent by the Bocchicchio family as a professional assassin and to act as Michael Corleone's personal bodyguard in Havana while Al Neri was in Nevada. He was one of the zips, who were native Sicilians who were brought to the United States by the Corleone crime family.

He was a man of few words who was known to carry out Michael's orders with brutal efficiency. He also remained with his boss at all times, accompanying him to Hyman Roth's house in Miami in case of any treachery.

On New Year's Eve, 1958, Bussetta snuck into Hyman Roth's hospital room in Havana, after he had murdered Roth's lieutenant Johnny Ola. He was in the process of suffocating Roth with a pillow when Cuban soldiers burst in and shot him several times.

I always wnodered why Michael left him out in the cold when he visited Frankie. being from sunny Italy, he was probably freezing his butt off.

Funny thing is, Amerigo Tot (1909-1984) was 65 years old when they filmed GF 2. Now he was a pretty scary looking guy, but let's be honest, a little too old to be be a "bodyguard."
