She married because even though Michael's divorce settlement with her was generous, he did not provide medical benefits. Since her new husband was a doctor, medical benefits would not present a problem.

I don't recall anything about medical benefits??? Seems to me she'd have enough money even without medical benefits. At any rate, I do believe she loves Michael and it's not impossible that she also loved her new husband. It's hard to explain, and maybe I'm "different" in that way, but even after a divorce there is still a love of sorts with the father of your children. I guess however, it depends on circumstances. Hell, I don't know. TIS

Don Michael, I believe that deep down Kay loved Michael to the end. There is a very thin line between love and hate, and Kay and Michael crossed that line. Evidence of this was in GFIII. Michael found it in his heart to forgive Kay for having the abortion. When he takes Kay on the tour of Sicily, you can see it in her eyes that deep down she was still in love with him. I think in a deleted scene from GFIII, there were some overtones suggesting that they made love while they toured the countryside of Sicily. I think that while deep down Kay always loved Mike, she knew that she could no longer live that life. Don Cardi

I wish they developed kay's character a little more like Henry Hill's wife in Goodfellas, where she wasnt so innocent and was seduced by the power of it all

It seems that Kay would love her 2nd husband, just not the same way as Michael. I know they loved each other, but by the time they got married, it seemed to me that Kay loved who Michael was before he took over the family. She really hadn't changed so it was simple for Michael. But she married the idea of him, believing he would change back. It was like she was in denial about what and who he had become or maybe she just didn't fully realize at the time. I mean, she had to know deep down who Michael was, but just wouldn't admit it to herself. When Connie accused Michael of killing Carlo and Kay asked if it was true, she already knew it was, but she wanted Michael to say 'No'. She wanted to believe that Michael really just imported olive oil. By GII she couldn't deny it anymore and just wasn't able to handle the life. When she finally woke up, she couldn't take it and just wanted out. I still think she loves that part of who he was before he took over the family, that part that he shared with her, but she couldn't separate the two. As to the abortion, it was sort of a way to hurt him, maybe even get back at him for the lies. Plus, I always thought that she had it to push Michael into hating her. She knew he wouldn't just let her leave him (especially if she was pregnant) so she did the one thing she knew he wouldn't easily forgive. JMO
