Just having some fun with the subject title. But, here is something that I spotted in "The Godfather" some time ago and was wondering about.
In the scene when Johnny is talking to The Godfather about his movie problems, Sonny walks in just as Vito says "Because a man who does not spend time with his family can never be a real man". Vito seems to give his eldest son a brief look of ridicule that Sonny defensively reacts to. Just after this (in the background) Sonny lights a cigarette and takes a puff. Then he makes a gesture to someone off camera (most likely Tom)with his finger pointing up and a very animated and communicative facial and head movement. What is Sonny trying to convey here? Could Sonny be giving a (friendly brotherly like warning) that he is going to have words with Tom over the comment his father just implied? To me, it seems Sonny might have felt Tom said something to the Don (before Sonny came into the room) about Sonny's activities upstairs with Lucy. Does this sound plausible? It's as if Sonny was saying "You dirty little bastard, I'm gonna kick your ass later". In the way some familiars fight with each other about hurt pride.
I don't recall, but perhaps it's Sonny's way of saying "Hey, my Kraut-Mick step-brother, I've got a massive organ and you've only got a piccolo like this finger".
"Generosity. That was my first mistake." "Experience must be our only guide; reason may mislead us." "Instagram is Twitter for people who can't read."
