Did you ever shed tears when watching one of the Godfather movies? I ask this because I easily cry over a film. But even though there are a lot of sad scenes in GF 1,2,3, none of the scenes ever brought me to tears.

So my question is not if you find some scenes sad, but if you ever actually wept tears over them.

I came close to crying at the end of Part III. They were tears of joy that the movie was finally over. whistle

Seriously though, I never cried from any of these movies BUT I got choked up a few times. Two noticeable times were Mike's reaction when Mary was killed and Vito's reaction to when he learned Sonny was killed.

Never cried, never choked up in any of the three. Well, I almost cried watching Sofia's performance. whistle

I always tear up when the immigrants come up to the deck to see the Statue of Liberty for the first time. I always think of my grandparents and get a definite lump in my throat.

There's no crying in Godfather... what would the Don say?
wink

I've never cried watching a Godfather scene, but I always feel a great sense of sadness watching the scene where Tom tells Vito about Sonny's death. Sonny is one of the most likeable people in the trilogy (after Vito, he's my favorite character) and one does get the feeling that his death was a terrible tragedy. The acting by both Brando and Duvall here is masterful--one really feels that their crying and the anguish on their faces is sincere. I'm a Civil War buff, and I've often thought that in terms of the emotional blow of it, the effect of Sonny's death on the Corleones was similar to that of Stonewall Jackson's on the Confederates. Both men were highly charismatic (although in different ways) figures whose deaths left a great void.

I came close to getting a moist eye at the scene where Michael makes his confession in Part III, and also at the scene in Part II where Michael embraces Fredo at the Mother's wake. But no crying.

I kind of teared up while watching Michael embracing his brother Fredo at their mothers wake.
Also for some reason Fredo crying over his father getting shot got to me.

Oh I don't know of a time when I cried, but I was the most sad when Sonny gets shot on the crosswalk.

I never cried over a Trilogy scene, but as others have stated, I felt a great deal of sadness especially at the end when Michael dies - the path not taken. He could have been a college professor. Instead, he embarked on a life of murder and mayhem, destruction of life and living. Everything he had and that his wife and children had came from someone else's blood. The silent scream to me was the epitome of what the Trilogy was all about and the culmination of the path taken.

I bawled at the end of III during the flashbacks. I had watched all 3 movies in 3 nights for the first time when I was 18 and after the journey was over, I was just overcome with emotion. The flashbacks with the Intermezzo from CR still get me choked up.

I once watched all three GF films back to back and im not ashamed to admit i did shed a tear at the end of GF 3, the silent scream and Michael dying alone got me in the end..

I once shed some tears at the end of GF2, when Michael realized how he lost his family. He sacrificed his dreams for the family, but by doing so he lost them.

A friend cried over the scene when Michael's son sings the ballad for his father.

I never cried, but for me the most emotional scene was the one of Michael embracing Fredo and looking at Neri at the same time in which he gave the sign that his brother would be killed. But there are many more scenes in the movies that give me goose bumps when every time I see them.
