After Mike whacks Sollozzo and McCluskey at dinner, he is picked up out front by a car and makes his escape.
Is there any indication of what happened to Lou, Sollozzo's driver? He's apparently not around to react to the noisy whackage in the restaurant or to stop Mike's escape...
You'd guess he got snuffed after they went into the restaurant, right? Is there any reference to his fate in the movie that I have missed?

The novel says that the driver (who was not named) was interrogated by the police after the murders, but he refused to say anything. I inferred that the cops got him while he was still waiting outside the restaurant, which indicates that he was either deaf, asleep, or intensely loyal to Solozxo.

Since this topic touches on the novel I'll rehash something discussed here before: In the novel Sollozo has one or two guys (the driver?) in the restaurant but they don't interfere after the shooting. I never quite understood this.

It all happened so quickly that he didn't have time to react other than to look at Michael. Mike had just murdered two people and it's probably that the guy figured that Mike wouldn't have any problem swinging that gun in his direction if he made a move.

Lou owned the restaurant. It was called "Louis" He kept his mouth shut cause he didnt want to lose his liquor license or his access to the best veal in the city.
