Are there characters based on Willie Moretti who liked to talk nonsense to the press and Fed about the Mob?

Luca Brasi is based on Moretti--the part when he put the gun to the bandleader's head to get Johnny out of the contract. But FFC and Puzo had Luca killed by Bruno Tattaglia and Sollozzo. The real-life Moretti went around the bend due to tertiary syphillis and was whacked on orders from Vito Genovese.
